Role Summary

A Business Development Manager is currently available at Sealed Air New Zealand Commercial Team, with base location in Auckland. You will implement company strategies and policies to meet planned new business development and sales objectives. You will be responsible of account acquisition and developing new business with a focused on promoting Sealed Air’s innovative automation solutions. You will also prospect customers, build relationships, understand customer needs, and apply industry/sector knowledge to present custom solutions that drive sales and provide service to our core customers.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and implement territory-level strategies and tactics to obtain new business and existing accounts.
  • Achieve sales plans and new account goals for all assigned product lines, manage relationship of all Protective Packaging equipment and its distribution. 
  • Keep abreast of competitor activities and market developments.
  • Research and identify new business opportunities including new market, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services or new ways of reaching existing markets.
  • Support key marketing programs with appropriate sales development/trial programs
  • Gain business at targeted new accounts within pricing/margin guidelines
  • Identify potential equipment sales opportunities
  • Work closely with Channel team to execute corporate strategies and programs.  Assist Channel partners in developing product sales knowledge and system selling that will enable them to effectively target/promote our products in their markets. Provide product, sales, and applications training to Channel sales reps.
  • Use CRM for timely and accurate updates on lead status and sales pipeline.  Review sales pipeline with sales leaders on a regular basis with the focus on accurately projecting close dates.  Provide quarterly business summary reports for key accounts, Channel partners and competitive market activity. 
  • Work effectively as a team with internal Sealed Air personnel in customer service, quality assurance, field service, applications, marketing, pricing and other operations as required.
  • Initiate appropriate systems such as stock and order reports to manage finished goods stock
  •  Willing to travel to fulfil work functions.
  • Be able to meet deadlines and organise work priorities

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Should possess a hunter mentality, sound business acumen and desire to achieve.
  • Minimum 5 years of field sales experience from packaging or food or equipment/automation related industry
  • Experience in value based selling
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Have demonstrated sales ability and account management
  • Ability to analyze and interpret customer needs as well as formulate and recommend solutions in a consultative manner.  
  • High attention to detail and able to meet deadlines and organise work priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to relate to all levels of people.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc
  • Level of Tertiary Education, ie Diploma, Degree, Masters etc. in a related discipline.
  • Packaging Industry Qualification/Certifications an advantage.
  • Sales Training and/or Experience
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Able to travel up to 20%.
