POSITION PURPOSE

The GPLs are primarily responsible for team performance in the Sealed Air Performance Management System (PMS) environment.   The GPL is responsible to ensure that his/her team meets quality, productivity and safety standards and also that continuous improvement objectives are attained and TPLs and operators are well trained.  The GPL will work to a daily cycle of Plan-Do-Check-Act and will support their team in carrying out their Standard Work.  They will also engage with support functions to provide technical assistance as required. Also to lead improvement & expansion projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The GPL will perform a daily review of the past 24 hours at the beginning of their day. The GPL will manage the daily performance summary and is responsible to make sure that performance KPI’s are updated.  The daily performance summary and performance KPI’s are critical for reporting the shift’s performance on a daily basis
  • The GPL will lead the daily integration meeting including Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance representation
  • The GPL is responsible for partnering with the maintenance department to coordinate planned maintenance activities.  The GPL will ensure the equipment is prepared prior to maintenance intervention as defined in the daily integration meeting
  • The GPL will lead the daily schedule review process and will create the daily plan based on the output of the daily review, integration, and daily schedule meetings
  • The GPL will support problem solving activities related to safety, quality and performance on the shop floor.
  • When required, the GPL will elevate problems related to the value stream.
  • The GPL will set KPI’s that make problems/improvement opportunities visible and ensure structured problem solving and improvement methods are used to tackle them.  As performance improves, they will also be responsible for resetting of targets and ensuring these are well understood and communicated.
  • Handle daily warehousing activities ensuring good inventory control of raw materials, work in progress materials & finish goods.
  • The GPL is accountable for safety, quality, and productivity KPI’s in their area. 
  • The GPL will provide support for all continuous improvement efforts. 
  • The GPL is accountable for the implementation and updating of standards.
  • The GPL is responsible for performance management and disciplinary action of team members
  • The GPL and GML will jointly share accountability for improving and sustaining autonomous and preventative maintenance by the operators.
  • The GPL will need to lead some improvement projects assigned including expansion works.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / PERSON PROFILE

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Process improvement experience with demonstrated successful results driven by application of structure problem solving and improvement
  • Able to write policies and procedures
  • Able to set Standard Operating Procedures
  • Computer literacy in Word, PowerPoint, Excel – intermediate/advanced
  • Able to maintain a clear focus on eliminating waste, simplifying and error-proofing processes, sustaining gains, and creating flow.  

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Level of Tertiary Education, i.e. Diploma, Degree, Masters etc. desirable
  • Alternatively significant management experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Training and experience
  • SAP skills viewed favorably
