Summary

Sealed Air has an immediate position available for an Associate Scientist on the Analytical Sciences team at Sealed Air’s Global headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Analytical Sciences group works with engineers and scientists within our Innovation and Development division (R&D) to develop new packaging solutions that are safe and sustainable.  Analytical capabilities include an array of physical testing, as well as GC/MS, LC/MS, microscopy, FTIR, Raman, XRF, and DSC.  

Responsibilities

•    Perform physical testing on packaging materials, including tensile & elongation, tear propagation, coefficient of friction, impact, optics, rheology, etc.
•    Perform permeation testing of various gases through films (OTR, MVTR, CO2TR)
•    Modify, improve existing physical testing methods and coordinate usage of equipment available to other I&D users (user instruments).
•    Maintain a clean and safe working environment; adhere to existing safety protocols and participate in department safety programs
•    Report results in the global LIMS system and maintain good recordkeeping
•    Partner with internal and external customers to assist in problem solving
 

Qualifications

•    A college degree (AS or BS) in a scientific field required with some lab experience preferred. 
•    Strong background in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis, with experience performing chemical testing techniques in a safe laboratory environment.  Preference given to those having experience with analytical testing techniques mentioned above.
•    Experienced in using standard computer software for word processing and spreadsheets
•    Good English verbal and written communication skills 
•    The ability to work well independently using good time management and prioritization skills
•    Right to work in the US
