Job Description

This internship will be based at our headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. Our company is currently working in a hybrid environment, with flexibility to work remotely during the week. Occasional travel to local plants may be needed for assigned projects. Position will be located at headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. The Charlotte campus offers multiple amenities including a coffee shop, bistro, gym, and more! Our internship program allows for the perfect mix of flexibility to work on campus and remotely throughout the week.


The co-op and internship program at Sealed Air provides students with challenging and impactful projects for their assigned business unit. Each co-op or intern is assigned a designated manager and mentor to assist throughout their experience. Interns and co-ops from multiple locations around the United States will share experiences and connect with each other throughout the semester. Additionally, the program includes professional development and networking opportunities with our leaders and senior executive team, cohort activities, social events, and a final presentation of your projects to senior leaders.


Within the Global Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work in the areas of central engineering, process engineering or supply chain optimization with projects supporting the Food Care or Product Care Divisions.  Projects will be designed such that your involvement will have a direct business impact. Projects may include working with equipment manufacturers to design new equipment for capital investments and/or innovation, working directly with the product line optimizations, smart factory digital strategies, and designing efficiencies into existing equipment lines.  As an intern, you could work in a variety of areas including:

  • Project Management
  • Equipment Design and Installation
  • Process Engineering
  • Production Line Optimization
  • Smart Factory Design
  • Lean Manufacturing optimization techniques

This is a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of supply chain processes both in upfront equipment installation and the design of end user equipment operation and functionality. You’ll work in a highly collaborative team environment and will have the ability to have direct influence on Sealed Air’s success.  This role will work with multiple areas within the division, with occasional travel to various plant locations nearby in South and North Carolina (based on projects).


Responsibilities are highly specific to the project or assignment on which you would be working, but some of the responsibilities you may have during an internship at Sealed Air include:

  • Participation in team meetings and projects
  • Preparation of reports and presentation of results to management
  • Project management tracking of spend and timelines
  • Brainstorming sessions to develop out of the box ideas
  • Provide engineering operational support


Education: Completed at least two years toward a bachelor degree, or at least one year in Masters program, from four-year college or university in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related major.

Required Skills/Training:

  • Reliable transportation to travel locally as needed up to several times per week
  • Experience with MATLAB, 3D modeling, SolidWorks, Inventor, PLC programming, python, or other engineering analytical software
  • Determination and desire to work on a problem until solved
  • Interested and able to be more hands-on, with strong communication skills to comfortably work with production operators, technicians, and other professionals
  • Innovative and creative solutions
  • Collaboration within teams
  • Effective project management - readiness to take initiative with and manage projects
  • Experience or ability to work in a multi-cultural, fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills/Training:

  • Previous internship or co-op experience within supply chain, logistics, production efficiencies, or related.
