Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Finance Director, Global Functions within the Corporate FP&A team, the Finance Manager, Global Functions – I&D and Legal’s responsibility is to partner with the Innovation & Development (I&D) and Legal organizations and lead their financial processes. The successful candidate will oversee all FP&A related activities for those two areas including month-end close, reporting and analysis, rolling forecast, Annual Operating Plan, and the multi-year strategic planning process. Additionally, supporting Other Admin functions as necessary to ensure budget adherence and financial modeling for new investment proposals will be key responsibilities for this role.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Major responsibilities for this position include:
  • Provide financial and decision support to the I&D and Legal leadership teams
  • Ensure the integrity of the month-end close process for I&D, Legal, and Other Admin, manage expense accruals and reclasses, confirm proper accounting treatment between capital and expense for project related costs, and interact closely with the shared services and procurement to maintain accurate financials
  • Maintain internal controls, GAAP compliant environment: address all audit requests timely and appropriately, perform reconciliations to test adherence, raise due diligence items as required
  • Lead the monthly forecast, AOP, and STRAP processes for I&D, Legal, and Other Admin
  • Partner with I&D leadership on project pipelines to ensure the quality of the financial information contained in forward-looking projections 
  • Prepare routine (e.g., functional reporting packages, EBITDA bridges) and ad-hoc reporting and analysis (e.g., business case financial modeling) as required
  • Develop and implement Power BI reports and other automated financial tools to provide I&D and Legal teams with additional insights that better inform decision making
  • Prepare all Investment Committee (IC) review packages for projects requiring IC level approval – establish PAR financials, validate business case, and prepare executive summary
  • Perform post project delivery Make Good analysis of actual vs expected results as it relates to budget, timeline, and scope
  • Provide Wave (tracking tool for saving initiatives) support as needed for I&D and Legal business partners who act as initiative owners on cost management and productivity efforts
  • Review overall Wave pipeline periodically to ensure accurate data is reflected in all reporting
  • Ensure continued development of analyst level team members by providing training and coaching, and motivation to these colleague(s) to grow within and beyond current role(s)
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements across all financial processes, focusing on process automation and other repeatable, scalable efficiency efforts 
  • Actively problem solve to develop analytical approaches to answer queries in a timely manner

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience, preferably in a multi-national, corporate finance setting
  • Experienced user of SAP, BIA / B4P / HANA, and Hyperion Planning & SmartView (or similar, e.g., OneStream, Anaplan, etc.)
  • Strong modelling skills using Excel, VBA, or Power Query; Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of business concepts, accounting principles, and strong analytical skills
  • Flexible, patient, and highly pragmatic with ability to reprioritize quickly
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.  Always focused on achieving outcomes.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task under pressure.  Mentally resilient to endure challenges associated with fluid and demanding environments where priorities evolve constantly.
  • Energetic, positive, and collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and team building skills.  Desire to be a leader on the team and to mentor analyst level team members.
  • Ability to organize, manage and prioritize work for self, project support resources, and associated non-financial business partners. Able to work with and coach a diverse team.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit who continuously is thinking about how to work more efficiently / automate processes and proactively puts these ideas into practice
  • Effective, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating across all levels of the organization.
