Job Description
As an intern you’ll have the opportunity to work in the areas of central engineering, process engineering or supply chain optimization with projects supporting the Food Care or Product Care Divisions. Projects will be designed such that your involvement will have a direct business impact. Projects may include working with equipment manufacturers to design new equipment for capital investments and/or innovation, working directly with the product line optimizations, smart factory digital strategies, and designing efficiencies into existing equipment lines. As an intern, you could work in a variety of areas including:
- Project Management
- Equipment Design and Installation
- Process Engineering
- Production Line Optimization
- Smart Factory Design
- Lean Manufacturing optimization techniques
This is a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of supply chain processes both in upfront equipment installation and the design of user end equipment operation and functionality. You’ll work in a highly collaborative team environment and will have the ability to have direct influence on Sealed Air’s success. This role will work with multiple areas within the division, with potential frequent travel to various plant locations nearby in South Carolina (based on projects).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities are highly specific to the project or assignment on which you would be working, but some of the responsibilities you may have during an internship at Sealed Air include:
- Participation in team meetings and projects
- Preparation of reports and presentation of results to management
- Project management tracking of spend and timelines
- Brainstorming sessions to develop out of the box ideas
- Provide engineering operational support
Qualifications
Education: Completed at two or least three years toward a BS, BA or BBS degree from four-year college or university in at least one of the following areas:
Majors:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
Required Skills/Training:
- Experience with MATLAB, 3D modeling, SolidWorks, Inventor, PLC programming, python, or other engineering analytical software
- Determination and desire to work on a problem until solved, providing
- Interested and able to be more hands-on, with strong communication skills to comfortably work with production operators, technicians, and other professionals
- Innovative and creative solutions
- Collaboration within teams
- Effective project management - readiness to take initiative with and manage projects
- Experience or ability to work in a multi-cultural, fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel locally by car as needed up to several times per week
Preferred Skills/Training:
- Experience in a multi-cultural, fast-paced environment
- Previous internship experience within supply chain, logistics, production efficiencies, or related.
