Job Description

The IT organization of Sealed Air Corporation is responsible for the life cycle planning of business applications through selection, operation, refresh, migration, optimization, retirement and disposal.

The Industry 4.0 Lead builds/configures, maintains/enhances, and eventually decommissions relevant Industry 4.0/Smart Factory applications through that life cycle, with a focus on MES (Manufacturing Execution Sytem).  Responsibilities for Manufacturing (with a focus on MES/Smart Factory), Scheduling, Plant Maintenance, Quality Management and Inventory Management.  SAP integration is a nice to have, but not required.  This position requires a deep technical and comprehensive business process understanding of manufacturing environments with a focus on Manufacturing Execution Systems and Smart Factory innovations related to scanning, printing, data collection and predictive analysis.  This person should have significant experience in manufacturing operations across multiple industries, in depth experience of Industry 4.0 concepts, and who has been a part of successful transformations of manufacturing organizations. 

The position reports directly to the Executive Director of Supply Chain and will be based at our headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Job Description Cont.

  • Work with Executive Director of Supply Chain and other IT leaders to understand and support the IT and Business strategies and offer innovative suggestions to improve processes.
  • Form a strong bond with the Global Supply Chain business partners within IT and with the supply chain leaders and key users in order to facilitate idea generation and delivery of solutions.
  • Develop and enhance methodologies and practices for the application lifecycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that applications processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
  • Partner with our managed services provider to insure their employees are properly trained in order to support our business.  Be responsible for making sure that proper documentation exists to support our business processes.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of key projects, such as the multi-year initiative to deploy Smart Factory functionality in 60+ manufacturing facilities.
  • Work closely with technical and digital architects to develop solutions that improve/streamline shop floor operations, with your focus being on functional design.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years’ in-depth experience in MES systems (like Rockwell Automation’s Factory Talk/Productivity Center, Hydra, Apriso, etc) including but not limited to functions such as discrete and repetitive manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, plant maintenance, Quality Management.
  • Experience with SAP a huge plus, integration of a MES system and SAP definitely preferred by not required. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • University educated (at least BA/ BS) or 15 year of experience in diverse professional roles.
  • Can work effectively with remote teams
  • Willing to travel 15% time.
