The Senior Facilities & Sustainability Engineer will manage a range of projects from planning through completion.  This includes design, construction, expansion and/or upgrades of new and existing facilities, power distribution, auxiliary process systems, and material handling systems to support our manufacturing operations.  Examples of process systems include ink / solvent delivery, chilled water, steam and emission control systems.  Energy engineering and modeling, sustainable design, and environmental sustainability projects are also in scope. The candidate’s strong technical, project management, and communication skills will be used to plan and execute these facilities and sustainability projects in support of existing sites and CAPEX expansions. Successful candidates will be innovative thinkers who can both understand new technology in manufacturing and be able to look at true capability and identify the right place to implement it, will be great communicators that can work across diverse teams inside and outside the business, and will possess the ability to think outside of the box and embrace change. Primary responsibilities include the following:

•    Planning, design, and execution of facilities and sustainability related projects in any of the global manufacturing plants.  This includes developing and managing scope, spend, and schedules for multiple projects to deliver standardized, high quality and sustainable solutions.  
•    Deliver aggressive sustainability targets by eliminating waste at our facilities by right sizing utilities, incorporating automation, and exploring potential for renewable energy sources.
•    Develop and execute an investment plan to upgrade facilities that also addresses obsolescence and sustainability.  
•    Provide capacity/demand analysis of utility systems to support expansion, understand risks and develop solutions based on the assessment.   
•    Collaborate with engineering teams, EH&S, management, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure solutions are cost effective and meet the desired design criteria.
•    Apply strong technical decision-making skills to all facets of the project. This candidate must be able to work with a team to identify potential issues, evaluate new technologies, formulate, and implement solutions.  
•    Optimize facility layouts for material flow and production equipment. 
•    Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to complete projects on time and budget.
•    Develop contingency plans to ensure that there are ‘no surprises’ on projects.  
•    Identify / evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into the existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.   This includes networking the various facility systems to optimize utility consumption.  
•    Demonstrates strong project management and leadership skills.  Able to act as a project leader across interdepartmental lines.
•    Carries out project assignments which require significant advancement of in-house technology or use of outside technology. Consistently finds ways to reduce project cycle time on process/equipment development and/or capital projects.
•    Communicate regularly to share combined knowledge with engineers in other locations. Other assignments as required.
•    Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes and health and safety standards


•    Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial). 
•    The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.   
•    Experience with developing master plans and ability to cost effectively apply LEED principles and applicable building codes to manufacturing facility projects.
•    Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
•    Demonstrated expertise in project management with a history of successfully executing multiple projects on time and budget.  Ability to execute all aspects of construction management such as managing A&E firms, schedule, budget, spend forecasts, contractors, and site safety.
•    Able to work on a wide range of problems where causal relationships are difficult to establish, or no precedent exists, and the use of creative and imaginative thinking must be employed. 
•    Must have strong communication skills, a collaborative work style and ability to effectively work with an interdisciplinary team.
•    Excellent skills with MS Office and project management tools.
•    A strong background in lean plant layouts and highly automated manufacturing environments will be an important selection criterion.
•    Candidate engineers should also have solid CAD design skills and experience with computer aided engineering facilities tools such as SolidWorks, Draftsight, Revit, etc.  
•    Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  The ability to generate technical solutions with computer design, structural analysis, and simulation a plus.
•    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, take initiative and drive for results to exceed customer expectations.
•    Ability to work remotely or to travel domestically or internationally as required
