Summary

Commercial Finance has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst on its global team.  This position has three main areas of focus:

  • Support I&D and Portfolio Marketing teams by providing financial guidance to our innovation portfolios and ensure proper resource allocation to support our long-term strategic growth target. 
  • Partner with Global Equipment team to develop go-to-market strategies and ensure proper revenue recognition in equipment, automation and digital service areas. 
  • Support the Director of Global Commercial Finance to manage the end-to-end capital budgeting process, which includes budgeting, actuals tracking, project financial analysis, and managing the capital approval process.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills.  He/she will understand general business and marketing concepts and is able to think like a business person and readily recognize or suggest viable business alternatives.  The candidate will have effective communication skills with all levels of management, and be able to work with cross-functional teams effectively.  He / she will have both big-picture thinking and the ability to get into details as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide financial leadership and decision support for I&D and Portfolio Marketing teams.  Evaluate financial impact of business decisions, project economics for capital asset investment or research initiatives and contract negotiations
  • Lead preparation and presentation of project reviews and strategy briefings to internal stakeholders (GLT, IC, etc.); coordinate closely with regional finance and business owners to analyze and monitor returns on invested capital.
  • Develop financial framework to track Vitality Index and monitor I&D portfolio pipelines.
  • Manage cost center budgeting for global I&D group, analyze actual performance against budget/forecast and monitor progress against Reinvent target.
  • Partner with the Global Equipment team during contract negotiations and provide suggestions and assistance in revenue recognition optimization
  • Review customer contracts to ensure consistent application of revenue recognition policies in accordance with GAAP
  • Evaluate the financial viability of both I&D and capital investment proposals by creating and maintaining project financial modeling with NPV / IRR analyses.  Interact with cross functional teams to provide accurate and relevant value propositions.  Assess risk levels with sensitivity analyses.  Maintains unbiased financial objectivity in evaluating investment opportunities with a keen focus on increasing ROIC.
  • Coordinate capital budgeting and forecasting for Global Commercial Organization, including leading analysis for PAR submissions and analyzing monthly capital results, understanding variances and communicating financial results, risks and opportunities to the finance leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting required; CPA or MBA in Finance a plus
  • 8+ years of work experience in finance or related fields
  • Highly motivated individual with strong business interest and desire to act as a business partner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with cross-functional teams and working directly with senior management
  • Effective, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with competing timelines
  • Ability to influence others to provide support and take ownership in a process without having direct reports
  • Proficiency with financial reporting systems, e.g. SAP, BW, HFM, etc.
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel skills, Microsoft Access skills a plus
