Job Description

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Logistics and Materials Coordinator is responsible overseeing the shipping and receiving activities for multiple locations as defined by management.  The role serves as a logistics data and materials processes expert, monitoring the quality and integrity of all logistics and materials data for multiple locations including outside vendors, working cross functionally to assist and report to management.  The Logistics and Materials Coordinator is responsible for analyzing and tracking performance of intercompany and vendor locations and is responsible for driving continuous improvement.  Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment will be critical for this role.  The selected individual will provide collaborative support to manufacturing teams and vendors to help the company to achieve its growth goals. The role requires the ability to handle multiple projects, work independently and interact with all levels of employees.  This is a flexible position.


Responsibilities

 

  • Drive continuous improvement of system processes using data gathered through periodic audits, and/or analysis while retaining alignment with guidelines. Actively monitor warehousing and distribution procedures evaluating efficiencies, championing adoption of "best practices" to enhance cost effectiveness and improve responsiveness. 
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to investigate, define, communicate and resolve; compliance, quality, and/or operational issues affecting the delivery of product to customers.
  • Provides regular updates on performance, potential issues, and corrective actions to the Director of Operations and other stakeholders.
  • Carries out logistics strategies and operational processes to support the organization while adhering to logistics policies, objectives, and initiatives
  • Builds strategic partnerships with service providers to achieve the performance needed to support business needs and priorities.
  • Monitors day-to-day operations for multiple shipping/receiving departments and ensures both internal and external customer demands are met
  • Assists with cycle count programs and reconciliation between physical inventories, cycle counts, and data listed in the inventory control system. Verify that procedures are in place for inventory to make certain it is handled and stored to prevent damage
  • Perform shipping, receiving and other transactions in SAP
  • Verify that domestic and international shipments are processed correctly and on time.
  • Participate in the MRB and processing of non-conforming materials
  • Assists in meeting operational targets. Identifies opportunities to minimize total cost to serve customers
  • Coordinates and assists with planning adequate carrier capacity and storage space to keep pace with volume growth
  • Maintains warehousing and inventory SOPs
  • Works to resolve out of stock conditions and support customer requests and products to be returned
  • Implements specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Management, Logistics or Supply Chain Management, preferred
  • High school Diploma plus 5 years manufacturing/shipping experience, required
  • SAP experience with shipping and receiving transactions required. Additional transactional experience a plus.
  • Solid logistics operational experience/background with knowledge of load/freight management
  • Experience in cross-functional data management and/or process improvement
  • Ambitious, proactive, inquisitive, agile, individual; with a good level of autonomy, strong organizational skills and attention to detail; capable of problem solving
  • Experience working, both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative, and controlled, project environment
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written), multi-lingual capability a plus
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with competing timelines
  • Strong sense of ownership. Ability to positively drive data-backed decisions business-oriented outcome
  • Proficient in MS Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • LEAN, GK, or Six Sigma experience a plus
  • Travel:  Occasional travel, required
