Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the Quality Management Systems (QMS) used with Sealed Air Corporation’s External Equipment Manufacturing suppliers and related operations. This position assures all products manufactured meet specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.  The Quality Manager is responsible for the ongoing analytical assessment of all materials and certification of their performance throughout the product lifecycle; from Design, through Manufacture, Supply, and Customer use. The Quality Manager will work collaboratively with others to raise the performance of the business unit’s product lines, providing strategic direction and leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that processes needed for the QMS are established, implemented and maintained
  • Develop, implement and document standard operating procedures and conditions for process control, process improvement, testing, inspection and positive release practices.
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and engineering to gather data and provide corrective actions.
  • Interface constructively with the Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing Teams to share and achieve sourcing and operational goals
  • Interact with others in Quality & Performance roles to share findings, support programs, and replicate best practices to accelerate successes. Drive and implement corporate Quality initiatives
  • Develop databases, process maps, metrics, and visibility to support each of the quality processes
  • Identify root causes and trends in quality metrics, and where appropriate, lead programs to reach quality, operational, and financial goals using Lean Six Sigma and other techniques
  • Devise and review specifications for products or processes and monitor compliance
  • Coordinate ongoing activities to ensure that specifications represent fitness-for-use and are enough to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in process / product development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Roll-out Quality training programs to all affected.
  • Regularly report Quality information to all levels of management in the equipment organization, along with corrective actions and needs for improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with quality systems and processes in a manufacturing setting, including Supplier Quality Management, Corrective Action Tracking, Root Cause Elimination, and FMEA
  • 5+ years experience in hands-on project execution in an Operations or Engineering environment. Proficient in organizing and maintaining multiple projects and very strong in follow through
  • 3+ years managing direct reports.
  • Trained in LSS, minimum Green Belt level; preferably to Black Belt level. Certification preferred yet not required
  • Ability to objectively seek input and collect data from customers, suppliers, and Sealed Air colleagues
  • Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis
  • Possess exceptional problem-solving abilities and business acumen, to ensure activities and solutions are sound and cost-effective.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, both face to face as well as on the telephone and in conference calls
  • Able to develop rapport quickly, face to face, over the phone, and/or in writing, with all organizational levels, from shop floor personnel to officer level. 
  • Possess clear and concise written communication skills, using data and trends in reaching conclusions
  • Highly motivated and highly motivating
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in teams
  • Ability to lead teams and facilitate meetings
  • Experience with analyzing processes and creating process maps
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Visio Project (or similar tool), and Access
  • Knowledge of MRP/SAP
  • Ability to use Minitab or comparable statistical analysis software when needed
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
