As a member of the Equipment Engineering group the Mechanical Engineer will work closely with fellow engineers, in addition to designers, technicians, sales, marketing, and manufacturing, to develop packaging equipment solutions.  More specifically, the position will be responsible for design, testing, manufacture and commercialization of the packaging equipment and customizations required for each unique application challenge.  You will have the opportunity to expand your design skills, grow your interpersonal aptitude, sharpen your manufacturing prowess, and lead projects.  All equipment systems solutions will be thoroughly documented and comply with functional and technical specifications, meet all applicable safety and regulatory codes, and satisfy Sealed Air’s 2025 mission with respect to sustainable solutions.  Your efforts will be crucial to Sealed Air’s success in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. 

  • Perform conceptualization, layout, and design of industrial food packaging equipment
  • Analyze mechanical systems according to widely-accepted engineering and scientific principles and/or theories
  • Conduct application tests for market penetration and commercial system growth
  • Complete system documentation including CAD drawing packages and manuals
  • Provide Sales and Marketing support to identify potential customer opportunities
  • Provide customer support focusing on operation and maintenance training and field troubleshooting with root-cause analysis and closed-loop corrective actions
  • Execute detailed technical project plans which ensure deliverables are met and communicate project health to internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiate corrective action projects in support of supply chain goals, namely, cost reduction or technology upgrades
  • Support manufacturing relating to customer orders, inventory, parts, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable system safety standards and hygiene standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant engineering design or project experience
  • Ability to meet technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Exceptional problem solving with “hands-on” application ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and influential leadership ability to lead cross-functional teams  
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks and/or Solid Edge preferred)
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD (Draftsight and/or AutoCAD preferred)
  • Ability to travel domestic and international
  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Working familiarity with typical project planning software
  • Requires up to 25% travel throughout a typical work year
  • Eagerness to work hard and enjoy success as a team
