Job Description

This position is located in Duncan, South Carolina, reports to the Director of Operations.  The qualified candidate will demonstrate top performance history in the following areas:  Lean Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, and safety activities.  This position will promote a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and consistent manufacturing processes and establish robust process controls surrounding including inventory, production goals, and customer delivery requirements; drive, oversee, and maintain the lean manufacturing initiative at the PESC production site.  Other responsibilities include maintaining communication between Equipment Manufacturing Operations, Marketing, R&D, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and our customers.

Job Description Cont.

  • Directs all activities related to the operations of Production at the site in accordance with the business plan and the strategic goals of the Company. 
  • Collaborates with senior management on strategic goals and sets short- and long-term production and service goals for the site.  Develops metrics to monitor performance against those goals.
  • Directs and manages the overall production plan for the site.   Responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipment.
  • Evaluates performance and adjusts allocations of resources (e.g. personnel, equipment, materials) as needed to optimize the quality and quantity of equipment, machinery and components produced, and cost efficiency of operations.
  • Manages hourly and salaried associates to ensure efficient performance of duties and compliance to company policy and procedures.
  • Drives continuous process improvement through Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Addresses operational deficiencies and/or customer issues quickly using root cause and corrective action methodologies.
  • Communicates the Company’s strategic goals and vision for the site.
  • Ensures all employees operate in a safe manner and use proper safety equipment appropriate for the tasks. 
  • Reviews and analyzes reports of key business performance data.
  • Collaborates with the management team on operations, and maintains knowledge of current market trends and best practices for region and industry.
  • Collaborates with global regulatory department to ensure Sealed Air products are within full compliance of all applicable state, local, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees employee training at the PESC production site, and ensures all activities are performed in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and ensures full support for site audits as necessary.
  • Integrates, standardizes, and maintains Lean and Six Sigma concepts and tools.
  • Communicates with co-workers, vendors, customers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Reviews production plans in coordination with sales, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing.
  • Acts as liaison between various company departments in the resolution of manufacturing and production issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering; MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of results-oriented experience in manufacturing management.
  • Experience with managing direct reports, assigning work, providing coaching, setting goals, staff development, and making management decisions both alone or in collaboration with management and Human Resources.
  • Expertise in project management.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Lean experience.
  • Quality, Purchasing, and Safety knowledge and experience.
  • Hands-on management approach.
  • Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting own priorities.
  • Able to assimilate and understand new technologies.
  • Polished presentation, business acumen and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office, ERP manufacturing systems (SAP a plus), process mapping, and Six Sigma principles.  Minimum Green Belt Certification or equivalent training and project completion may be considered.
