Job Description
Automated Packaging Systems, Inc. is currently a part of Sealed Air. APS has been an innovator in the bag packaging industry since our inception in 1962. We invented the original pre-opened bags-on-a-roll and named them Autobag®. Today, we offer a full line of bagging, protective packaging and stretch sleeve products to customers around the globe. Our products are utilized in the retail, medical, food, pharmaceutical, automotive, and other industries. The Grand Island location, a division of Cryovac LLC, specializes in the development of industrial systems used to print on various media with digitally driven data.
Each session of the program is developed to be a project assignment. The participant will complete a formal presentation to higher level leadership about the outcomes at the end of each session.
- To support lead engineers in developing and testing printing control systems for use with automated bagging and packaging inflation systems. as part of the Converting Equipment development team. The majority of the work is in pilot laboratory environment with other engineers.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to design and develop industrial machinery.
- Support the development of novel concepts and technologies for our next generation of products.
- Develop CAD models and detail drawing using engineering software packages Creo
- Work with Converting engineers to build models and prototypes.
- Write control code to manipulate processes.
- Support staff in processing Change Request through company process
- Investigate and resolve assembly and wiring issues for production machines
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Completed at least 1.5 years towards a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 3.0 or higher GPA
- Authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship
- Able to provide own transportation to the internship/co-op location
- Junior year or beyond in Mechanical Engineering program, previous co-op experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of principals, theories, and concepts in electrical engineering
- Proficiency with Creo
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable using hand tools
- Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced agile environment
- Hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams
- Effective communication skills: 1-1 and written.
- Works collaboratively with others
