  • Operate the following equipment: demount unit, A-frame, plate micrometer, foot shear, rubber cutter, video mounter(s), anilox roll cleaner, sleeve storage unit, and photopolymer drill table.
  • Operate mounting equipment in a safe manner to prevent injury to themselves and the equipment.
  • Inspect incoming photopolymer plates for design accuracy, image number accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Interpret production schedule to determine raw material needs and mount orders so that they are ready in advance of production run.
  • Mount orders according to data sheet or special instructions.
  • Determine appropriate mounting tape for order depending upon print application.
  • Mount plates to be processed through printing, ensuring quality workmanship standards are maintained.
  • Monitor plate inventory and schedules platemaking as necessary.
  • Assure all items supplied are ready for press use prior to closing out orders and placing materials in plate packets.
  • Inspect quality of "press returned" plates and stores acceptable plates for future runs.
  • Destroy and dispose of substandard plates according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Clean and maintain repeat cylinders (integral, demount, and sleeve) for press use.
  • Communicate with print team and determine sleeve positioning sequence and anilox roll configuration for each order prior to setup start.
  • Unload/load cylinders in the press during press setup.
  • Unload/load anilox rolls in the press during press setup.
  • Clean anilox rolls according to PM schedule.
  • Communicate with print team and determine ink positioning sequence for each order prior to setup start.
  • Setup inks in the press and wets anilox rolls during press setup.
  • Check ink viscosity during press setup.
  • Assist in changing out doctor blade cavities.
  • Cut up and dispose of press test material.
  • Maintain an inventory of ink toners from available ink vendors, blended inks, and solvents.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a card catalog of ink formulas for available ink systems.
  • Perform viscosity checks on incoming toners for all ink systems using established procedures and provides supervisor with information.
  • Blend inks according to established formulas and color matches to Cryovac color standard or Pantone Matching System book.
  • Retone blended inks returned from press using available equipment.
  • Pump ink toners and extenders into available holding tanks in the ink room.
  • Pump waste solvent and ink (slop) to holding tank for disposal.
  • Label inks and solvents for accuracy in printing.
  • Store blended inks in ink room storage shelves.
  • Assist operators with ink toning.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the inkroom.
  • Clean returned inks, ink kit lids, ink kit components, viscosity units, ink pumps, toner tubs, stir paddles as needed.
  • Clean wash up tank and tray as needed.
  • Perform all tasks needed to ensure a safe, clean ink blending and ink storage area is maintained.


  • Maintain housekeeping duties on operator side of CI section during press setup. 
  • Return sleeve cart to staging area during setup. 
  • Setup AVT camera during press setup. 
  • Register decks to meet Cryovac specifications during press setup. 
  • Operate the eltromat system to maintain front to back registration when relieving for breaks. 
  • Clean plates/sleeves and return to storage. 
  • Change out buffer roll according to PM schedule. 
  • Stage cylinders for next order. 
  • Load first roll of the printed order. 
  • Setup rewind for 3"or 6" core. 
  • Relieve for breaks, performing necessary duties to meet optimum performance standards. 
  • Assist operating team with bin balancing as necessary. 
  • Understands and can perform ink resource duties when necessary. 
  • Performs all other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervision or the operating team.


  • High School or equivalent. HS diploma or equivalent; Ability to read a tape measure, perform simple math functions, physically able to lift weights up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods of time
