Summary

To ensure that product and processes are developed in line with customer and business requirements. To improve product and processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability including planning and seeing new product trials through.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-functional teams to achieve project goals and to select most appropriate process improvement techniques. 
  • Prioritize and develop projects based on critical needs.
  • Identify and manage resources to execute process improvement projects.
  • Develop new processes for high efficiency and cost effectiveness. 
  • Optimize current processes to meet all customer and internal requirements.
  • Recommend new ideas and techniques to ensure project success.
  • Evaluate current processes and provide recommendations.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot process problems to make continuous and permanent improvements.
  • Liaise with third party manufacturers, external vendors and customers for product trials.
  • Evaluate and process all new and existing Graphics and Artwork requirements, including SAP info updates on artwork for data cards 
  • Material trials and process validation.
  • Process and product capability and validation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree/Diploma/ Qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering or Material technology 
  • Background in Printing, Lamination and Bagmaking processes – (Advantageous)
  • Experience in production, process design & engineering
  • Extensive knowledge of the use of computer programs / process simulation packages. 
  • Good computer skills with MS Office programs
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Sound understanding of processes and process controls
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Process Safety – understanding safety as priority 1 above cost and efficiency.
  • Being able to examine operating procedures and make recommendations on improvements.
  • Being able to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with other design and engineering staff, as well as customers.
  • Working understanding of financials including product costings and cost management.
  • SAP and or other ERP systems knowledge.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
