Position Summary

Sealed Air is seeking a driven professional to fulfill our current opening, SUPERVISOR, in Modena, Pennsylvania.  The qualified candidate will report to the Production Manager and is responsible for safe and efficient operation of the paper machines, developing and driving the manufacturing processes via continuous improvement to deliver and sustain profitable growth.  The Shift Supervisor will provide direction and guidance for the team of operators to ensure goals are met for critical manufacturing components, production is run in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures to meet customer specifications.  The role requires the ability to handle multiple projects, work independently and inter with all levels of employees.

Please note this is a rotating position. Days/hours below:

  • 7 am – 3 pm Saturday thru Friday
  • Off Saturday thru Monday
  • 11 pm – 7 am, Tuesday thru Monday
  • Off Tuesday and Wednesday
  • 3 pm-11 pm Thursday thru Wednesday
  • Off Thursday and Friday

Job Description

  • Ensure compliance with all safety programs
  • Supervise team of operators on rotational shifts
  • Lead crew meetings emphasizing safety, quality, and schedules
  • Review customer feedback with team members and takes corrective action if needed
  • Responsible for the daily production schedule
  • Assist in employee development through one-on-one coaching and conflict resolution with assistance from the Production Manager
  • Administer daily crew reports, including production reports, hourly timecards, attendance records, vacation and leaves, and disciplinary steps
  • Communicate performance expectations in a clear, professional, and respectful manner
  • Implement policies and procedures designed to attain and sustain World Class Manufacturing performance  
  • Provide full support and encouragement to direct reports to achieve key performance objectives including, but not limited to:  An accident-free workplace, environmental compliance, high quality production, meeting/exceeding production standards, encourage active communication, and fostering employee development and engagement
  • Support a culture to enhance customer relations and satisfaction
  • Support the key strategy of “Quality in Everything We Do” preventing defects and working with customers and the Quality Team conducting root cause analysis and implementing identified corrective measures as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing work experience (preferred)
  • High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing work experience (required)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising employees with proven ability to direct and energize staff, provide constructive feedback, and establish clear expectations
  • Excellent and professional oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team to achieve results
  • Self-motivated team player who can act with minimal direction
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (and Lean Six Sigma a plus)
  • Demonstrated organization skills and data-based decision making
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of papermaking or working in a paper mill a plus
