Job Description

 

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will develop a Business Development team in the central area (DACH and CEE).

 

  • They will be responsible to execute the platforms' strategy.
  • They will develop a team of BDLs who will support the Territory Sales organization in managing the different product categories by enabling the successful prospecting of new customers, building and managing relationships at existing customers and distribution channel partners, understanding customer needs, and applying industry/sector knowledge to present custom solutions that drive sales and provide service to our customers.
  • The Business Development team, led by the Business Development Manager will ensure more focus on adjacent or fast-growing sectors (e.g. Electronics), will implement the new system focused strategy, and will identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow with a strong focus on the defined KPIs.
  • The work can involve careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets, or enhancing the operation of the business, position, or reputation in some way.
  • Driving BD activities in Food Protection and pilot to implement the BD approach also in Protective Packaging.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and Develop the Business Development team in the cluster           
  • Manage the execution of a strategy designed to maximize the value and drive the growth of the different portfolios across the region in partnership with the Sales and Strategic Accounts teams.
  • Collaborate with the regional and global Sales, Marketing, and Sales Operations teams to enable smooth and fast execution of the global strategies in the sectors.             

 

Relationship development

 

  • Proactively engage with the leaders of the key sectors to understand their needs and to communicate our differentiated value.
  • Working closely with regional Marketing, Sales, and R&D to ensure appropriate market, product, innovation, and solution information related to the platforms is conveyed.             

 

Business Oversight

 

  • Review and analyze trends in the different market segments.
  • Work proactively and cross-functionally to implement programs to achieve P&L commitments in the segments they lead.
  • Manage and support the BDL leaders when identifying and developing segment-specific differentiated services and solutions   
  • Full responsibility for recruiting, coaching, training, and developing the Business Development team.
  • Ensure HR Policies Deployment

 

Qualifications

 

  • Educated to degree level with a preference for technical matters.
  • 5-10 years experience
  • Business Development or Project Management Background
  • Experience and expertise within the sectors and geographies
  • General management and Field Sales experience for a Country or group of Countries would be essential
  • Financial Skills and Business Financial Acumen
  • Local Marketplace knowledge
  • Key Account management experience
  • People Management experience: leadership, recruitment, development and coaching
  • Track record of successfully driving sales activities and projects.
  • Willing to travel more than 40% of the time.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
