Job Summary:

 

This role will direct a group of product/process development and applications professionals and pilot plant technicians responsible for the development, testing, documentation, training and transition to production required to expand the sales of Sealed Air products through the: (1) conception, development, and commercialization of new materials and concepts; (2) identifying potential new technologies to be used in development and manufacturing of Sealed Air products and systems; (3) improvements to existing Sealed Air products and systems; and (4) providing technical support to Sealed Air internal and external customers and other functions for trouble-shooting and other requirements.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

 

  • Working with Food Care leaders, both locally and globally, and other cross-functional counterparts to:
    • develop and ensure fitness-for-use of new products and systems versus market needs and competition.
    • develop and ensure fitness-for-use of incremental improvements to present materials.
    • ensure appropriate level of technical support and training for internal and external customers (e.g. Sales, Supply Chain).
  • Accountability for:
    • management of the departmental budget, 
    • recruiting, hiring, training, career planning, and development of a diverse group necessary to accomplish the goals of the organization and Food Care division.
    • ensuring Development group delivers business priorities (i.e., projects and support) on time and in full.
    • ensuring an optimum cost-to-serve for development resources involved in product/systems development and product and systems support.
    • maintaining a safe and incident-free working environment.
  • Interfacing with Customers, Supply Chain, and Sales and Marketing organizations to identify key inputs that will be necessary for delivering Food Care division programs.
  • Engagement with outside technology companies in consideration of innovation activities.
  • Maintaining competitive product and IP information and participating in the development of competitive response strategy.
  • Partnering with Food Care leader’s and the Sector teams to define a value proposition approach for each new project, allowing correct company prioritization and decision-making at IDP (stage gate) steps.

 

What does the ideal candidate look like?

 

  • A university degree preferably related to Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Packaging Science, Food/Meat Science, Food Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of directly related work experience.
  • Prior directly leadership experience in a directly related role.
  • Prior experience in a global role is a highly desired.
  • Prior work experience in roles with heavy cross-functional collaboration outside of the R&D focus; including but not limited to working with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales/Commercial teams. 
  • Demonstrated success in building a high performance teams
  • Proven ability to deliver technical support to SEE internal and external customers and other functional counterparts.
  • Fluency in English is a must; proficiency in another language and/or facility to learn another language would be an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel is a must.
