Job Description

Dispenses and delivers sufficient quantities of quality ink products at or below budgeted production costs in order to meet marketplace demand.  Sets up equipment operation feed, speed, delivery, and mixtures.  Follows established procedures for operating various conventional ink dispensing and cleaning equipment.  Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.  Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, processing and/or packaging operations.

The Inkroom Technician is responsible for the safe operation of ink and solvent dispensing equipment.  This responsibility includes the performance of those tasks necessary to achieve safe and quality support of the printing process.


  • Interpret and use production schedules, data cards, and MOTs
  • Dispense, mix, color match and deliver inks to press
  • Dispense and deliver cleaning solvents as needed
  • Process returns of inks and solvents
  • Check and fill tanks as needed
  • Maintain reports and logs as needed
  • Maintaining a safe, clean work area
  • Verify manifest and unload trucks as needed
  • Interact with computer systems
  • Inventory inks and ink consignment
  • Off-load barrels from pallets and store in proper location
  • Mop and clean ink room and office as needed
  • Collect, contain and store hazardous waste and coordinate shipments
  • Performing other duties as required for achieving the goals of the team
  • Self-Manage and work harmoniously in team environment
  • Perform other duties as requested or needed to support the team environment
  • Perform Product and Facility Sanitation duties as required



Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent bending and lifting of items up to 50 pounds as needed (Lifting of items exceeding 50 pounds but less than 100 pounds will require a two person lift)
  • Work with and around various solvents, inks, corn starch and cleaning chemicals
  • Access all work areas to include frequent climbing on stands, ladders and stairs
  • Sit, stand, stoop, squat, bend, and reach overhead as needed
  • Stand on concrete floors for 12-hour shifts
  • Push/pull objects as needed
  • Drive a forklift (with training)
  •  Utilize fine manipulation skills (including but not limited to the use of a utility knife, scissors, tape measure, typing, writing, and hand tools)
  •  Must be able to distinguish colors for product quality purposes
  •  Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management at all levels
  •  Must be able to follow all safety processes and procedures
  •  Utilize communication skills to effectively express both oral and written ideas individually or in group settings
  •  Utilize interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups
  •  Work overtime as needed
  •  Works every other weekend
  •  Works 12 hour night shifts
