Role Summary

An exciting job opportunity is now available as Asia Purchasing Director in Sealed Air global purchasing organization.

The role is based in Shanghai Qingpu site and reports directly to VP Purchasing.

The role covers 8 countries in Asia geography and the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate strong leadership in leading the direct and indirect purchasing team to achieve global purchasing strategy as well as providing strong support to the business in the APAC region.

Key Accountabilities

Explain to Asian stakeholders in business and finance the trending on inflation and savings.
Fight inflation.
Work with RD&E and Process Engineering for development of more suppliers.
Facilitate supplier’s involvement in innovation projects.
Implementing min. 3% purchasing savings every year.
Selecting suppliers and negotiate contracts / pricing and ensure close cooperation with global purchasing directors, such that Sealed Air is leveraging its purchasing spend at a global and/or regional basis (depending on the opportunity).
Support real estate projects in the region.
Look for opportunities to reduce non-value complexity (number of items / suppliers we use).
Optimize the Supply Chain (Planning, Logistics) between suppliers and Sealed Air factories.
Optimize supplier payment terms.
Reduce inventory in the areas of resins, chemicals, packaging & cores.
Solve main quality and delivery issues with suppliers.
Prepare monthly up-dates on purchasing savings, inflation, payment terms, inventory, quality and delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

10 years of experience in purchasing.
Strong negotiator and commercial savvy person.
Technical background (Bsc/Masters in chemical engineering / polymer science etc.).
Affinity with financial matters (such as inflation, savings, payment terms, inventory).
Good understanding of total Supply Chain optimization opportunities across purchasing, manufacturing, planning and delivery.
Good leader and manager of people.
Team player, able to work well within a global purchasing organization and work well with the key stakeholders of the Asian region (Divisions, SC, Finance, RDE, HR etc.).
Good in English (verbal and writing).
