Job Description

Under the direction of the Site Technical Manager, this position works independently or in conjunction with other engineers, operations management, and/or production and maintenance personnel to improve present processes as well as reliability and functionality of equipment. Participate in the creation, development and improvement of new processes and equipment and the expansion of current equipment to increase output and improve reliability, product quality and safety.

Job Description Cont.

  1. Working independently or with others to develop improved processes
  2. Identifies and serves as a driver for cost improvement projects to remove costs from current and new operations
  3. Assist the plant and corporate engineering in specification and installation of equipment
  4. Interacts and oversees from a technical perspective equipment modifications, upgrades, and new installations
  5. Interacting with operations management, process engineering, and maintenance to assist with equipment issues, quality concerns and assists in identifying new or improved equipment or methods for delivering value-added products to customers
  6. Stay abreast of new equipment / process developments in the Plastics Extrusion field.
  7. Communicate regularly to share combined knowledge with engineers in other locations
  8. Serves as an expert in troubleshooting manufacturing problems and identify solutions with data based decision making
  9. Identify and implement new/improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability
  10. Formulate and manage projects from start to finish developing objectives, justifications, timetables, manpower, other resources and expenditures required
  11. Identify, recommend and assist with upgrades for obsolete equipment, controls and programs. 


  1. Demonstrated flexibility within a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills
  3. Bachelor of Science in Engineering Required.  Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  4. Knowledge of statistical techniques and tools, their use and interpretation
  5. Requires ability to manage a project and process involving multiple manufacturing areas, plants, and across various portions of the business.
  6. Has demonstrated ability to work independently and focus on critical project parameters that determine success or failure. 
  7. Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Knowledge of statistics and DMAIC methodology preferred
  9. Project management experience preferred
  10. PLC experience is preferred.
  11. Programming experience preferred.


  1. Safety Requirements:
  1. Comply with all established facility safety rules and policies. 
  2. Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.  
  3. Report unsafe conditions or injuries immediately.
  4. Works around rotating equipment, hot polymers, and high noise environments.
  5. Required to wear safety shoes as well as standard PPE.
  6. Exposed to various chemicals throughout the site.
