Job Description
Under the direction the site Technical Manager, this position works independently or in conjunction with engineers, VSLs, GPLs, TPLs, production, and maintenance personnel. They will develop solutions to support our extrusion, printing, and/or converting processes. This may include design, development and transitioning of new processes, modification of existing processes, cost improvement initiatives, quality improvement projects, and project commercialization. More specifically:
- Develops improved methods for delivering finished product to our customers
- Identifies and serves as the driver for cost improvement projects to remove costs from current and new operations.
- Serves as the technical lead for quality improvement projects
- Interacts and oversees technical perspective of the daily production activities
- Interacting with internal customers to assist with quality concerns and assists in identifying new or improved products or methods for delivering value-added products to customers
- Stays abreast of new equipment / process developments in the Polymer Extrusion field
- Communicates regularly to share combined knowledge with process engineers in other locations
- Identifies and implements new/improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability
- Works with Global Engineering to implement solutions within the plant and assists in handing off projects from concept to full scale operation.
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum BS/MS Chemical or Mechanical Engineer
Experience:
- Minimum three years prior experience
- Experience in Plastics Extrusion and converting process preferred
- Statistical analysis experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of DMAIC process.
- Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Works effectively within a matrix managed organization
- Has demonstrated ability to work independently and focus on critical project parameters that determine success.
- Demonstrated ability to reach rational technical conclusions based on theoretical and experimental consideration
- Experience completing new installations and commercialization of projects.

- Able to operate with considerable latitude
- Able to work independently and within a team, generating results with minimal guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting priorities
- Polished presentation, business acumen and facilitation skills
- PMP certification preferred
- Green Belt certification
