Job Description


The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for applying continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies throughout the organization/ value streams and acts as a lean champion, driving Lean culture throughout the organization. 

 

Responsibilities:
•    Implement Lean within the manufacturing production and supporting supply chain operations
•    Provide intensive training for production teams and culture change within the organization
•    Teach, demonstrate, and coordinate Lean activities and implementation on the shop floor such as Kaizen, SMED, Kanban, Material Conveyance, Production flow, Value Stream Mapping, Takt time analysis, Problem-Solving, Standardized work, 5S, Visual Management, Error-Proofing, 5S, TPM, Scheduling, etc.
•    Assist value streams in sustaining gains achieved in Lean efforts, ensuring consistent application of Lean methods, and supporting the creation and implementation of best practices 
•    Lead value streams in Lean improvement and Hoshin plan development, ensuring alignment in all KPI
•    Manage follow-up of multiple projects using project management software and A3 (8D) problem solving
•    Lead Kaizen events as and where needed
•    Set Lean reporting (projects and financials) system, and report regularly to direct and functional management
•    Exchange experiences with Lean organizations in other areas

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor Degree or higher required
•    Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing work experience 

 

Additional Qualifications:
•    Degree in Chemical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering is highly preferred
•    Black Belt is preferred
•    Hands-on and has strong experience in production management with Lean implementation
•    Strong leader who has proven experience convincing an organization to do the move toward Lean
•    Advanced Training in Lean methodologies, 5S, SMED, VSM, Kaizen and other continuous improvement methodologies
•    Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean/Flow throughput world
•    Solid project management skills, team leadership skills, and excellent communication skills
•    Process improvement experience with demonstrated successful results driven application of the concept
•    Demonstrated success in leading and driving sustained change on the shop floor
•    Experienced in training, facilitating, and coaching of Lean concepts to all levels of an organization
•    Has led/participated/directed 50+ kaizen events on the shop floor and the ability to regularly work on the manufacturing floor and outside
