Job Description

Machine Operator will operate an extrusion line in a safe and orderly manner at Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) to manufacture a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.

Will work a 12 hour shift, 3 days one week, 4 days or nights the next week in a 2 week rotation.  Every other week, you will have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, unless overtime is posted.

Must stand much of the shift.


  1.  Operate equipment to produce finished goods to production specifications.
    1. Understand and be able to safely STOP equipment during normal conditions and during and emergency situation.  Know how to E-Stop the machine.
    2. Set Machine up to SOC using the appropriate conditions found in SAP
      1. Use the Human Machine Interface(HMI) to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC to safely make a quality product
      2. Understand and perform winder Function and tension adjustment as necessary to ensure quality roll profile
      3. Perform Rate adjustments with in SOC allowances.
      4. Understand Blender Operation,  and perform Cleaning, Adjustments, and Changeover
      5. Understand Treater operation, and perform Cleaning, Adjustments, and changeover
      6. Perform Line start up and Line shut down
      7. Understand and safely operate extruders
      8. Winder and extrusion line threading with rope or film
      9. Understand and safely purge extruders, and change screen packs with specified screens.
      10. Follow all EAT or standard operating procedures(SOP) to safely and efficiently operate the line
      11. Understand and perform a bubble pull to get line into production
      12. Understand and operate deflate, winder, and secondary nips
      13. Set up and Safely handle edge ripper or slit in line blades as applicable
      14. Use the trouble shooting guides to identify and solve extrusion issues including but not limited to gels and wrinkles.
      15. Perform line changeover activities to safely and efficiently change over from one product to the next. 
      16. Ability to use SAP to fulfill job functions
      17. Ensure proper labeling of all film

  1. Always Safety operate Ancillary Equipment
    1. Obtain samples for quality testing purposes.
    2. Understand all quality lab equipment and be able to operate and adjust as necessary to safely test film samples.
    3. Obtain forklift certification and safely operate a forklift truck as necessary
    4. Safely operate j-hooks as necessary
    5. Safely operate box tiltAssist Process Engineer, Maintenance and TPL in trouble shooting.
  2. Follow the production schedule as issued by production control.
  3. Attend and participate in team meetings as required.
  4. Participate to ensure the success of the Performance Management System(PMS)
  5. Provide adequate turnover to the shift oncoming shift.
  6. Coordinate special projects as they are assigned
  7. Break out operators for lunches/breaks and fill in where/when required
  8. Maintain excellent housekeeping and recycling practices in your work area
  9. Complete all required computer and paperwork, including checklists and PMS paperwork
  10. Participate in scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities
  11. Understand ISO and GFSI and be able to discuss key elements
  12. Other additional tasks as assigned by management
  13. Assist Process Engineer, Maintenance and TPL in trouble shooting.
  14. Follow the production schedule as issued by production control.



  • Strong mechanical aptitude is desired.
  • Prior manufacturing experience desired.
  • Must be able to follow our safety guidelines.
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to pass training retirements to become qualified on one or machine production lines.
  • Must have good communication skills both personal and via Email
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must have outstanding troubleshooting skills
  • Must have good judgment with decision making in regards to Safety and Quality.
  • Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper forms
  • Must have excellent team skills
  • Ability to take direction from several individuals
  • Ability to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completed
  • Self-motivated and ability to make decisions
