POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIESThis position performs both the Forklift Operator (Materials Coordinator) and Core Cutting Responsibilities.  Employee may be assigned to primary position but will be trained for both and expected to perform the secondary position as assigned by the TPL.

 

Forklift Operator (Materials Coordinator)  will lead and support the site material movements – material management, material flow improvements, coordination with logistics and all production areas including, but not limited to; stocking raw materials at production lines, communication with off-site warehouse on hours outside of Logistic hours, transporting finished materials from lines to packaging, removal and disposal of product dunnage, and following Kanban principles to sustain the work-flow system.

 

The Forklift Operator (Materials Coordinator) will be the site "champion" for all material movements from the internal warehouse to all of the production line in the plant.  This candidate will drive efficiencies in the production area, by having the materials needed at each line available at point of use.  The Forklift Operator (Materials Coordinator) must have a passion for overseeing the coordination of the process flow for the entire plant, with added emphasis on the weekends while coordinating with PONY warehouse. Must also have the ability to transcend obstacles within a complex manufacturing environment, to identify and communicate the "big picture", and to achieve tangible improvements within the organization. Must have the ability to coordinate and operate the Core Cutter and Box Truck when called upon to meet business schedule adherence and avoid any machine downtime due to lack of materials. The Forklift Operator (Materials Coordinator) will ensure that coordination of materials and transactions are aligned with other business activities (Recycling) and improvement projects that support critical organizational goals and lead to higher customer satisfaction.

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Must have the ability to coordinate with Production Scheduling, Logistics and the shift production workforce to assure that orders are completed in a timely fashion with the value that meets and exceeds the customers’ requirements. 
  • Support and manage:  material movements (raw materials, semi-finished, finished products and recyclables) in an orderly fashion that drives improvement in quality, safety, and efficiency. 
  • Inventory control through, spreadsheets, visual control and SAP transactions.       

 

Forklift Operator Qualifications:         

  • Must have good standing Driver’s License
  • Must demonstrate a solid understanding of the general plant manufacturing process
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-starter capable of managing multiple movements with minimal supervision
  • Must have strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills coupled with a willingness to promote and uphold the team culture
  • Must display confidence with computer transactions/programs including SAP
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Preference will be given to candidates with any prior material coordination (shipping, receiving, warehouse movement) experience.
  • Able to perform the requirements of the position.

 

 

 


CORE CUTTER duties include but are not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

 

Provide correct cores to machines to meet production goals.

  • Follow all EATs for Core Cutter Duties
  • Core cutter will cut cores in either West or East Building.
  • Receive shift turnover from previous shift
  • Check Bailer – make sure bailer is in auto, not clogged and operating correctly every 45-60 minutes depending on the lines running into the bailer.
  • Check automated schedule for any changes – at least 2 to 3 times a shift to make sure nothing has changed or been added.  Use the Automated Product Specs and SOC program.
  • Check the lines for extra cores not being used.  Either put extra cores on another pallet of same size, cut excessive cores down for new order, or dispose of cores that cannot be used.
  • Check with lines to make sure all lines have cores they need and are not running low
  • Cut Cores
  • Clean catch pans under bailer once a shift
  • Check lines for excessive cores
  • Remove empty Core Racks
  • Confirm and verify thru computer work and paperwork that every current production order for the line is balanced at the end of the shift or order. Order balancing for the production line is mandatory.
  • Give accurate turn over to the oncoming shift

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to follow our safety guidelines.
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is desired.
  • Measurement or gauging experience preferred. 
  • Ability to pass training retirements to become qualified on one or more machine production lines.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend English and correctly identify numbers.
  • Must have good communication skills both personal and via Email
  • Must have outstanding troubleshooting skills
  • Must have good judgment with decision making in regard to Safety and Quality.
  • Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper forms (Excel, Word)
  • Must have excellent team skills
  • Ability to take direction from several individuals
  • Ability to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completed
  • Self-motivated and ability to make decisions and work well with minimal oversight
  • Experience with or ability to be trained to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment
