Job Description

 

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing automated system solutions for Sealed Air converting manufacturing facilities to improve processes, increase productivity, and expand product offerings. The candidate will provide all electrical engineering design, software development, documentation, and support as assigned from the Principle Software Engineer. Project responsibilities includes initial conceptual design, manufacturing release, assembly support, commissioning, and post installation support. Work with a cross functional design team to ensure success and to meet project deadlines.

Primary responsiblities:

  • Responsible for the hardware and software design of automation projects using Rockwell hardware and software products. This includes program development using RsLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 Logix Designer software, FactoryTalk View ME and Studio 5000 View Designer for HMI applications.
  • Create schematics and panel assemblies using Autocad Electrical.
  • Utilize Rockwell Kinetix products to develop multi-axis motion solutions.
  • Provide expert technical support to Sealed Air manufacturing facilities on new and/or existing designs.
  • Upgrade legacy control systems and safety systems.
  • Work closely with manufacturing process engineers to ease operation and optimize processes

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Open to considering Associates Degree and equivalent expereince. 
  • PLC programming utilizing RSLogix  5000 and Studio 5000 Logix designer.
  • HMI application development utilizing FactoryTalk View ME software or Studio 5000 View Designer.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Kinetix servo and Powerflex AC drives, Rockwell distributed I/O, Rockwell safety products such as light curtains, door interlocks, and area scanners. Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC also preferred. 
  • 3+ years proven industrial electrical design experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • A proven ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for solving system level problems which span multiple disciplines including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to converse with engineers and non-engineers.
  • Application/Project experience a plus utilizing Rockwell’s Advance Software Packages such as Historian.
  • Ability to travel to Sealed Air manufacturing facilities both domestic and international to support new and existing control systems (10%).
