The General Ledger Manager is part of the retained Global Business Services Team charged with ensuring that the Americas financial statements and general ledgers are accurate and that our outsource partners are well trained and are operating effectively. The General Ledger Manager will report directly to the Controller Americas, Global Business Services


•    Ensure that:
o    The Americas financial statements and general ledgers are accurate and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
o    Financial statements and other financial schedules are submitted incompliance with company policies and in accordance with Corporate timelines.
•    Take full ownership for all GBS managed General Ledger Accounts of one major US operating entity and the linked account reconciliations
•    Serve as single point of contact in the GBS Team for that major US operating entity
•    Manage our outsource provider to ensure general ledger account reconciliations are complete and easily understood. Ensure reconciling items are well understood and are followed up and resolved timely.
•    Recommend and drive ongoing training to outsource teams. Help the outsource team to fundamentally understand accounting concepts and Sealed Air policies. Provide accounting guidance on accruals, deferrals, prepayments and allocations.
•    Ensure accurate Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and well understood.
•    Identify and drive simplification and standardization of General Ledger processes
•    Continuous drive for improvement, in close cooperation with colleagues responsible for other finance operations in Americas
•    Partners with SEE business partners in support of outsource team and vice versa. Facilitate communication between teams. Follow up with business partners when necessary.
•    Implement existing Internal Control procedures and Company policies in close relation with Regional Internal Control Manager and Internal Audit
•    Work closely with internal and external auditors
•    Support Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) programs and procedures.
•    Manage special projects independently as they arise. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 2 (+) years of direct management experience
  • 8 (+) years of general ledger accounting experience
  • Excel experience is a must
  • Manufacturing industry experience desired
  • SAP, IFS, HFM desired 
  • CPA desired
