Job Description

*The incumbent could be located at a Sealed Air location in France, Italy, United Kingdom, Hungary or Poland*

The Executive Director, Quality position entails leading the improvement, implementation, and performance of the Quality Management System; Establishing Standards for Quality Tools, Equipment and Testing protocols, and leading the Quality aspect of Operational Excellence for the Sealed Air Corporation in the EMEA region. This person will be responsible to position the Quality agenda at the highest priority within the Regional SC team by integrating Customer needs and requirements with business priorities and objectives and process capability. In addition, will be responsible for documenting the required processes and procedures and will own the Sealed Air Global Quality Intranet site for this region so others can reference, share, and implement Best Practices. The role is that of a Quality Leader who can leverage existing plant and corporate resources to identify and address gaps in existing Quality Management Systems, Tools, Testing and Equipment. The candidate will develop and implement action plans with the EMEA plants to close these gaps and monitor progress against plans. This position will lead the plants in achieving defined defect reduction goals in the short term with a vision and plan to achieve double digit PPM performance in the near future by implementing the processes and infrastructure defined above. The role will own the Quality component of a current Smart Factory implementation project and assure data output / control / processes are tied into Quality and Operational Excellence procedures.  Finally, this strong leader will lead and model the One Sealed Air approach across the region by standardizing and implementing a proactive Customer Satisfaction methodology.    

Responsibilities
  • Effectively lead, motivate, and develop the Quality function
  • Improvement, implementation, and performance of the Quality Management Systems, through the review of existing Standards for Quality Tools / Equipment / and Testing protocols. Establishing new Quality Standards for any gaps.
  • Lead all Quality aspects of the Smart Factory data output / control / process tied into PMS procedures. This will include online SPC tools to reduce defects, reduce scrap, analyze capacity, and improve throughput, and overall plant effectiveness/profitability. 
  • Identify and implement Engineering Controls for error proofing and lead the implementation of these systems across the Region.
  • Must have the ability to teach and mentor Quality improvement projects using Six Sigma DMAIC principles.  
  • Lead the Quality pillar of the Global PMS across the Region.
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Key 8 standard processes road map.  
  • Participate in Quality Systems Audits and assessments if requested at various Sealed Air Corporation internal sites and supplier locations.
  • Will remain current with respect to technical skills by attending training classes, technical courses, and seminars.
  • Participate in identifying Internal Quality talent for developing with Senior Quality leaders and give direct feedback to the sites when necessary.
Responsibilities Cont.
  • Working with the Sites and Regional Quality Leadership improve the Quality Assurance laboratory function to assure that all Equipment facility laboratories are using current standardized methods, procedures and practices.  Direct all efforts to audit and test laboratories for accuracy, and compliance to corporate standards.
  • Track quality metrics to compare (and report) business performance. Distribute summary reports as requested.
  • Ensure that Customer Documentation requests are fulfilled and work to streamline and/or automate this process.
  • Drive improvements in Blocked Stock reduction, First Pass Yield, and Internal Spoilage Reduction.
  • Lead the effort in the Region on Customer Satisfaction improvement and the One Sealed Air methodology.
  • Ensure that we have a well-defined system for 3rd Party Manufacturers and consistent quality that parallels our internal manufactured quality.
  • Drive relationship with Sales and Portfolio EMEA management
  • Align CQE priorities across EMEA.
  • Oversees: This role will work closely with the Global Quality, Regional Quality Leaders and Regional SC leaders to improve our site Quality Management Systems through the use of Quality Standards for Equipment/ Tools / and Processes which includes Manufacturing, Logistics, and influencing 3rd party Suppliers.
Qualifications
  • BS degree, preferably in a Technical Field, such as Quality, Mathematics or Engineering.Advanced degree desired. 
  • 15 years manufacturing experience in Operations, Quality, Engineering or related field.
  • In depth knowledge of Quality Systems and implementation
  • Statistics, the application of SPC, systems design and computer skills
  • Project management techniques and team management skills. 
  • Auditing and inspection skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment towards continuous improvement
  • Good interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with SAP and BW preferred
  • Expertise in Lean Six Sigma techniques (Black Belt preferred)
  • Must have demonstrated skills in both written and verbal communications across a broad spectrum of stakeholders.  Key is the ability to effectively influence Quality technical professionals and Site / Region SC Leadership.
  • The preferred candidate needs to have a proven track record in leading a Regional team of professionals to achieve significant step change improvements against predefined goals.
