Job Description

Position Overview
The Quality Manager is a leadership role dedicated to maintaining and improving the capability of the facility to safely deliver the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost through the application of an effective quality system. The Quality Manager reports directly to the site Plant Manager along with functional reporting to the Liqui-Box Director of Quality. The incumbent will take direction and objective setting from both.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
•    Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities for quality issues or customer complaints in a timely manner.
•    Revise quality control plans to reflect decision-making protocol for out-of-control conditions and fit-for-use acceptance criteria, as applicable.
•    Ensure compliance with MOC process and IPPAAR submissions, reviews, and approvals.
•    Communicate with customers in product quality specifications, testing, conformance and COA requirements.
•    Visit customers and/or suppliers in support of new product launches, qualifications, issue resolution.  
•    Serve as supervisor, mentor, and coach for quality personnel.
•    Work with Plant Manager to define measures and goals for quality performance and communicate status with individuals and team for driving improvement.
•    Point of contact for external customers.
•    Work with field associates to obtain appropriate samples for examination of complaints.
•    Issue authorization for product return, credit, as applicable.
•    Serve as SQF Practitioner, manage site’s Food Safety and Quality Management systems.
•    Facilitate internal, second and third party audits.
•    Serve as HACCP Coordinator. 
•    Plan and lead food safety and GMP Audits.
•    Support directives from Corporate Purchasing to develop suppliers.
•    Develop and oversee site instrument calibration program.
•    Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education:   High School Diploma, mandatory. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, preferred. SQF Practitioner preferred.
  • Experience:  Minimum 3 years supervisory experience and 3-5 years of experience in the packaging industry. Working knowledge of formal management systems, i.e. SQF, HACCP, FDA, PMO, IMS preferred.
  • Computer Experience & Software:   Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Excel, WORD; NWA®, Minitab. Familiar with process improvement tools, including Pareto, root cause analysis, flow charting, histograms, control charts.
