Quality Specialist II

Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Inspects materials and products, for conformance to specifications, using fixed or preset measuring instruments.
- Ensures materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance.
- Performs incoming visual/dimensional (V&M) inspections, in process and final inspections as required.
- Reviews and verifies documentation, inspection and testing of parts for compliance to drawings and/or specifications, detailed documentation of results, and proper maintenance of records.
- Generates various quality and process performance reports and initiates corrective actions as needed.
- Disposition non-conforming material through the MRB process.
- Shares information regarding revised and/or obsolete drawings and specifications with engineering to ensure accurate maintenance of drawings and specifications.
- May participate in vendor evaluation and source inspection.
- Investigates product quality problems and recommends changes or improvements.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Manager of Quality.
- Assures a safe work environment through understanding and following safe work practices.
Skills and Experience
- 3 – 5 years of mechanical inspection experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Proficient in the use of mechanical inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other mechanical and electrical inspection equipment.
- Experience in “First Piece”, In-Process, and Final Inspection Methodology.
- Ability to assist in the development of inspection plans for new products/components from external sources.
- Experience in Calibration/Metrology requirements for Mechanical Measurement Devices.
- Able to discuss technical problems encountered with managers, engineering, or purchasing staff.
- Ability to prioritize inspection activities and coordinate workload with Receiving/Shipping/Purchasing.
- Experience with MS Office platforms (Excel, Word, etc.); familiarity with manufacturing (ERP) software a plus.
- Technical school training or ASQ Inspector or Technician Certification a plus.
