Position Summary
SEE has an immediate opening for a Sr. Technical Writer located in the SEE Automation Center in Ayer MA. In this role, the Sr. Technical Writer will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to produce technical documentation for packaging equipment. The successful candidate can work independently, employing a hand’s-on approach to gathering information by working directly with equipment. The position requires someone who is confident, detail-oriented, organized, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, willing to learn new skills, and committed to teamwork. Excellent writing and communication skills are key to this role. Responsibilities include analyzing audience needs and delivering concise, accurate, easy-to-understand instructions. The role requires the ability to work well with diverse groups of employees from Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain to support the launch and manufacture of new Engineering projects.
Job Description
• Organize, research, and write equipment technical documentation including User’s Guides, Operator’s Guides, Service Guides, and other technical instructions using established standards and templates
• Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create step-by-step, task-oriented installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
• Work directly with equipment to develop instructions and review HMI software screens
• Review content developed by Engineering personnel
• Organize, schedule, and execute documentation tasks to meet challenging project deliverable dates
• Anticipate and address issues pro-actively during each stage of a documentation project
• Document internal Engineering processes
Qualifications
• BA Degree in English/Technical Writing or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for equipment (preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and MS 365 Office tools products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint)
• Knowledge of FrameMaker is a plus
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
• Applicant should be detail-oriented, work ambitiously, anxious to learn new skills, and committed to teamwork
• Must have a professional attitude, be self-motivated, and disciplined to produce quality work
• Basic photography skills are required. Ability to create graphics from SolidWorks CAD files is a plus.
• Experience managing document and software screen translations a plus
