Inventory Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Duties include tracking, reporting, and transacting corrections for Production Order Errors, Damaged Material, Lost Material, and Cycle-Count completions. A key focus will be to make daily production error corrections to ensure semi-finished and finished material inventory is accurate and in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).  Another key objective will be to compile financial losses with the ultimate goal of achieving defined year-over-year reduction goals specifically for Semi-Finished Inventory, Material Damage and Lost material.  This position will serve as a key member within the SPO Inventory team and will pursue the successful completion of both short-term tactical activities and longer-term strategic objectives.        

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Productivity 

  • Monitor daily activities in the departments, correct production errors and advise management of any issues that may require attention (Prod Balancing, Lost Material for Planning, Cycle Count accuracy and completion, etc). 

  • Perform system related auditing and verification activities to ensure accuracy of data (bin counts, order corrections, customer billing etc). 

  • Initiate location balancing to ensure that material inventories are reported accurately and in a timely manner. 

  • Generate and examine Percentage of Inventory Value audited and Percentage of bins locations Cycle-Counted prior to month end to achieve required targets.   

  • Post Cycle-Count variances (gains/losses) to reconcile actual on hand inventory. 

  • Obtain required approval levels for all discrepancies. 

  • Transfer (LWH/FWH) consigned and non-consigned materials as required for Cycle-Count auditing.  

  • Update and evaluate scheduling reports and priorities ensure production orders are processed according to the published schedule. 

  • Communicate with Production Control to ensure efficient processing of second order releases, move-ups, ramrods, and air shipments. 

  • Communicate with the Warehouse Shipping team concerning shipping times and adjust machine loading to meet schedule. 

  • Coordinate with the QA group for processing of impounds to meet ship dates. 

  • Work with Production Control to resolve schedule changes. 

  • Communicate with maintenance, production management, and production control concerning machine overhauls. 

  • Monitor production area activities and address issues appropriately.   

  • Advise management of employee issues that may require attention.   

 

Administrative 

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports as requested by the department manager. 

  • Validate and publish daily reports in department DI meeting.  

  • Gather, analyze, and report data related to variances and trends. 

  • Provide monthly data to Manager for SOX reporting requirements. 

  • Provide support to help resolve shipping/receiving issues within the plant.   

  • Perform other duties as directed by Management. 

 

Quality 

  • Manage inventory side of non-Conforming materials (Blocking material and transacting Quality dispositions). 

  • Periodically assess and answers questions about Block Stock reports. 

  • Act as a data mining resource for retrieval of pertinent information to root cause for the purpose of analysis.  Example includes researching manufacturing data for customer issues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred – Business Related or Minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience within a Manufacturing environment 

  • Sound Business judgments – understands the overall picture and what drives the business. 

  • Experience with high volume operations
