We are seeking a creative Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join our Innovation & Development team.  If you like designing new concepts, solving problems through teamwork, and seeing how your ideas impact the bottom line, you are a good fit for Sealed Air Corporation.  In this creative role, you will interface with a team of Engineers, Scientists and Designers to develop new products and processes.  You will use your strong engineering design, modeling, and mechanical skills to build innovative designs that solve real world challenges for manufacturing of new customer products.  The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems, is proficient with Solidworks, 3D CAD modeling, ANSYS, and process simulation software, and enjoys tinkering with cutting edge advances in equipment design.  You will be involved with large and small projects and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the operation as well as the achievement of sustainability goals for the company.  We are Sealed Air Corporation, the inventor of Bubble Wrap, and we will give you the opportunity to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling, and fun.


•    Work with Innovation & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations for development of new concepts and products
•    Develop new equipment designs and processes for packaging products, and execute designs from concept to production 
•    Model and build prototype parts and machines with 3D printers and 3D modeling software, including Solidworks and SolidCAM
•    Model and simulate manufacturing processes for plastic films
•    Lead and conduct plant trials and applications tests on new designs
•    Drive projects for new product and process developments that help the company increase sales, improve efficiencies, and promote sustainability.


•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Electromechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field required
•    2-5 years of engineering and design experience preferred which can be combined with relevant intern and co-op work.
•    SolidWorks or similar CAD experience for part design and advanced assemblies
•    Hands on experience crafting simple proof-of-concept models
•    Thorough understanding and use of principles , theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
•    Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams
•    Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced agile environment
•    Previous experience with various design and modeling software: Solidworks, SolidCAM, AutoCAD, Inventor or Catia, CompuPlast, ANSYS, Abaqus
•    Good written and verbal communication skills
•    Some travel required (domestic and international)
•    Must be authorized to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment
•    Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5 for GD&T 
•    Proficiency with SolidWorks, CompuPlast, or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis tools
•    Ability to visualize in 3D and experience with 3D CAD modeling of product concepts 
•    Experience with translation of designs to CNC code for 3-axis and 5-axis machining
•    Familiarity with DFMA in new product development
•    A strong desire to innovate and lead technical developments
