Job Description

• BSEE with 7+ years’ experience designing and troubleshooting electrical and control systems for industrial automation equipment. Manufacturing experience (preferably food/meat processing or material converting) or custom automation systems integrator experience is a plus.
• Candidate will support all aspects of electrical controls project execution including power distribution system design, safety and controls system design, PLC/HMI/servo programming, project documentation, and site start-up support of integrated systems as needed.
• Proficiency in creating detailed electrical assembly drawings for enclosure fabrication and machine assembly, creating one-line diagrams, power distribution, IO and control and other necessary electrical schematics using Draftsight or similar CAD software. SolidWorks experience is a plus.
• Proficiency integrating, programming and debugging systems using Allen Bradley Compact Logix PLCs, HMIs, Kinetix servo, PowerFlex drives, and other types of automation equipment.
• Design of machine safety systems up to and including PLd (Cat. 3).
• Must have a working knowledge of NFPA (70, 79, 70e), UL, CE and ISO electrical and safety codes/standards.
• Must have abilities to assist in concept development, testing, component and supplier evaluation/selection.
• Self-driven to accomplish tasks autonomously within established timelines with or without direction from a supervising engineer.
• Must have good communication skills and able to work as part of a larger project engineering team.

Qualifications

• 7+ Years Experience demonstrating proficiency and excellence as an Automation and Controls Engineer. Proven history of successful project execution. Successfully guides teams to make the right decisions regarding various aspects of equipment design.  
• Up to 20% intermittent travel based on project demands (3-5 day trips typical).  
• Ability to occasionally work in raw meat (Beef, Pork, Chicken) packaging environments for equipment installation and testing.
