Job Summary:
The role is to support the Innovation & Development mission which includes the development and delivery of innovative, sustainable, robust, and cost-effective product solutions in alignment with the Division Strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for the conception, design, fabrication, and commissioning of lab scale and production process equipment. As a global company with multiple international locations, you will have the opportunity to engage with new cultures and a diverse array of colleagues.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Generating and documenting all elements of the equipment design packages.
- Leveraging your knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial controls to develop high throughput, high quality, and efficient process equipment.
- Identifying and evaluating latest technologies that can be incorporated into our processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
- Working with I&D and business leaders to identify key technology gaps and opportunities associated with business division innovation pipelines; execute a strategy to develop technologies and commercialize.
- Effectively leading projects, ensuring the right technical resources are utilized and projects are completed in an agreed upon timeframe.
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships in industry and academia relative to new technologies.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and at the forefront of technology to maintain competitiveness.
- Maintaining a safe and incident-free working environment that protects your personal safety and the safety of others.
- Working independently and/or within a team to develop and define project scope, budget, and timelines to execute projects which delight internal customers and exceed expectations.
Qualifications:
- B.S./M.S. Mechanical Engineering or other closely related or relevant degree
- 5+ years of experience with manufacturing equipment design
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Prior Experience with extrusion technologies, high speed automation, or web handling is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of 3D design skills including experience with computer aided engineering tools such as SolidWorks, Matlab, FEA / CFD Simulation, etc
- Proven and proficient machine design skills using both 3D and 2D platforms
- Strong written and oral communication skills, a collaborative work style and ability to effectively work with an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to influence company and business strategy and decisions, motivate high performance and negotiate win-win scenarios
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment with engineer(s) and other designer(s) to identify, formulate, and implement design solutions,
- Ability to travel in support of Sealed Air production facilities and at customer sites, including international travel on occassion
- Ability to work globally with appropriate sensitivities to cultures, businesses, etc
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, regions, and business divisions to drive results and ensure goal delivery
