Reporting to the Innovation and Development (I&D) Director for Rollstock, the individual is responsible for driving the I&D mission which includes the development and delivery of innovative, sustainable, robust, and cost effective product solutions in alignment with the corporate strategy.  Foster a safe environment, where our employees’ creative, technical and leadership skills are best utilized, as well as challenged, in order to deliver timely results.


•    Responsible for driving innovation projects forward through innovative polymer/material formulation and product feature creation to maximize customer and end user delight.
•    Drives new business, and technology opportunity, discovery efforts in partnership with business and technical experts and leadership.
•    Partners with key business and supply chain team members in pursuit of cost savings projects and raw material substitutions, quality issue resolution, and other business maintenance activities.
•    Responsible for all aspects of formulation and processing trials (lab, pilot, and production scale), communication with the appropriate operational personnel, and presenting results with management.
•    Monitors industry for available material and process technology opportunities both for existing projects, and future potential opportunities - including partnership or M&A.
•    Responsible for identifying and pursuing potential IP opportunities.
•    Responsible for identifying and pursuing potential environmental sustainability opportunities.
•    Partners with project management for monthly reporting, project expense tracking, timeline development and adherence.
•    Responsible for operating in a very collaborative, cross functional operating model on innovation projects.
•    Proactively coaches and mentors others in the organization.
•    Responsible for developing safety protocols for equipment together with Pilot Lab personnel
•    Responsible for partnering in transition of new product and process technology to the Supply Chain organization.


Basic Qualifications:
•    BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, or Materials Engineering
•    Industrial and/or research and development experience in polymer processing or chemistry preferred, 7-10 years minimum

Additional Qualifications:
•    Strong practical knowledge of variety of polymers
•    Strong understanding of polymer / process / property interactions
•    Strong understanding of processes including polymer extrusion, web handling and converting 
•    Strong knowledge of chemistry is a plus
•    Creative at innovative combinations of various processing equipment
•    Creative at identifying adjacent technologies and applying to Sealed Air markets 
•    Evidence of operating collaboratively; continually seeks ideas and opportunities from others
•    Innovates via linking new ideas/concepts to new and existing business opportunities 
•    Good judgment and decision making; able to courageously recommend future paths, including continuation OR halting a project.
•    Resourceful, pulls together the necessary tools, equipment and people, to get the job done.
