Position Summary

The Senior Safety Specialist is responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance in achieving Product Safety and Regulatory compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry accepted Environmental Health and Safety standards. You will provides safety and regulatory support for SEE products utilized by internal and external customers. You will also support efforts globally to achieve the Zero Harm Goal, by developing, driving, and implementing Product Safety related programs, practices, solutions, and tools designed to foster a safety culture of engagement, commitment, and visible leadership.

Job Description

Product Risk Assessments

  • Reviews the safety and environmental impact of proposed product changes related to operating procedures, purchase of materials, and equipment for compliance with EHS regulations and guidelines. 
  • As part of the SEE – Management of Change process, assesses the safety and environmental impact of proposed changes in manufacturing processes, intermediate, final products, and raw materials.
  • Provides industrial hygiene support and guidance to internal and external customers utilizing Sealed Air products and equipment.


Program Development

  • Update and assists with the development of customer safe usage guidance for SEE products.
  • Maintain current understanding of applicable product safety certifications and their impact on the organization and its products.
  • Develop and maintain internal safe handling and dangerous goods transportation procedures related to SEE products.
  • Support the development and implementation of compliance programs to ensure adherence with all applicable laws and regulations.


Product Support

  • Serve as a liaison between the company and end users regarding safety usage, storage and disposal practices related to SEE products. 
  • Provide product safety and regulatory support to SEE’s business platforms.
  • Support the product regulatory group with the development and implementation of the hazard communication program and product regulatory registrations for raw materials, products, and intermediates.
  • Assist various functional support groups in responding to customer questionnaires and issues product certifications, such as global registrations status, sustainability, TSCA Import, FDA and REACH statements.


Safety and Environmental

  • Provide safety and environmental management support for the SEE – Charlotte campus.
  • Support other SEE locations, as directed, with the development and implementation of programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and SEE - EHS obligations. 


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university program in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene specialty or related field. In lieu of a degree, management may elect to consider candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and professional training. 
  • Experience with evaluating and applying various safety and environmental regulations including, but not limited to, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, machine and equipment risk assessments, and dangerous goods transportation. 
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in areas relating to product safety and regulatory.
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to generate clear and comprehensive technical documents.
  • Solid communication & presentation skills
  • Solid computer skills with a proficiency in data analytics. 
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, and able to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving mentality skill
  • Domestic and international travel required at minimum 10% of the time.
