Position Summary
The Sealed Air Equipment Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and bright Electrical Engineer to join our Innovation & Development (I&D) organization focusing on Industrial Automation & Controls. Our team’s objective is to conceive, develop and commercialize industrial food packaging systems that deliver value to our customers and support the growth of the global Sealed Air Total Business. We move fast, we innovate, and we automate processes that were never possible before.
This position is responsible for the design and development of controls, electronics, and software for automated packaging systems. You will work as part of a cross-functional team with other electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, technicians, and applications engineers. You will interface with tech service, tech sales, marketing, and manufacturing. This position provides a great mix of creative design work, hands-on testing in the lab, and travel to field trials. All new designs and modifications to existing systems must comply with functional and technical specifications, meet all applicable safety and regulatory codes, and be fully documented.
Job Description
• System integration of various equipment controls supporting Equipment Automation initiatives.
• PLC, HMI, VFD and Servo programming for new designs and support of legacy systems.
• Drive technical advancements in conceptualization, layout, design, in-house testing, field-qualification and documentation.
• Electrical design, power (480V, 3ph) design and integration design and development for industrial conveyance and packaging equipment.
• Support supply chain for component and sub-system obsolescence and technology upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards such as NEC and NFPA 79.
• Support manufacturing relating to customer orders, inventory, parts, and documentation.
• Support customer issues, questions, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
Required
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
• 3+ years of relevant industrial automation & controls experience
• Excellent communication, problem solving and teamwork skills
• Proficiency with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC software products (or other similar industrial controls software products)
• Proficiency with Draftsight or AutoCAD 2D schematic packages (or other similar drawing packages)
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA79, ISO 13849
• Strong knowledge of AC motor control
• Ability to travel domestic and international (typical 10%)
Preferred
• Servo motion design and programming experience
• Experience designing equipment for harsh environments
• Experience specifying and programming industrial robotics
• Familiarity with UL and CE regulations
