Job Description

The Sealed Air IT group delivers unique customer experiences by leveraging new technologies that are quickly evolving. This is a new and exciting role that will allow for significant flexibility and creativity in executing the duties of this position. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy and BPI, the Ecosystem Development lead is responsible for the identification, development, and commercial execution of strategic partnerships for emerging technologies and practices. This will include conducting environmental scanning, “scouting” and trends research to identify new and emerging technologies, translating technology leads into early stage innovation projects and, if appropriate, acquisition of external technology or negotiation of partnership to support our strategy.  We have a highly collaborative environment and are looking for a motivated professional who will be passionate about helping identify game changing technologies, partners and processes. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategy to mine various sources of information (including technology scouting experts, licensing networks, open innovation conferences, entrepreneurs, etc.) to discover leading edge technologies and ecosystem partners that support Sealed Air strategic objectives
  • Support the ideation, definition and development of our products, capabilities and solutions by developing and leveraging external relationships with partners, incubators, universities, start-ups, vendors and others​
  • Enable Sealed Air to deliver capabilities faster, cost effectively and at scale
  • Develop scenarios and business capability models that define ecosystem needs and models​
  • Identify business outcomes desired, determine if a business ecosystem will add greater insight, and then develop the business ecosystem model
  • Determine where to expand an ecosystem or create / participate in separate ecosystems​
  • Leverage universities, venture capitalist / start-ups, incubators, suppliers and others to address capability, capacity, skill or talent gaps in technology, transformation and execution​
  • Develop valuation analysis for the potential benefits of new technologies, eco-systems and partners
  • Ensure close communication with IT, Marketing and business leaders to ensure long-term needs are understood and deliverables are defined

Qualifications

  • 10+ years industry experience with IT
  • Experience in some of the following technologies: IoT, advanced analytics, AI (chat-bots, RPA and others) / machine learning, blockchain, DevOps, vision systems, cyber security, AR / VR, digital twins and edge computing.
  • Requires a broad understanding of technologies and to be able to move from ideas to actions to practical outcomes yielding value
  • IT architecture or applications implementation experience
  • Excellent communication skills, and comfortable adapting communications to the appropriate audience (e.g. executive leadership, product developers, a highly technical audience, etc.)
  • Ability to challenge other internal technology teams to consider new ways of thinking in a collegial manner
  • Polished verbal and written communication style. Good networking skills to work across different multi-functional and multi-cultural teams towards focused goal.
  • Comfortable interacting with and presenting to executives and senior business leaders internal and external to Sealed Air
  • Self-starter attitude – must be able to drive individual as well as team goals.
  • Experience with technology licensing and leveraging a vendor / partner network is helpful
  • Prior work experience in collaborative or open innovation models with small start-ups, universities, incubators and external laboratories is a plus
  • An established network of contacts
