Summary

The Senior Packaging Engineer will work on a team of packaging engineers and technicians to design and develop protective packaging solutions for prospective and existing Sealed Air customers.  The role will work cross-functionally with sales teams to consultatively solve critical customer packaging challenges, by recommending packaging solutions and suggesting testing for validation. 

Responsibilities

• Design in CAD protective packaging solutions
• Produce sample packaging (cushions, cartons, etc.) 
• Develop strategic customer relationships to support revenue growth
• Lead as a technical expert regarding packaging testing, ISTA standards, ASTM standards 
• Engagement in the APASS testing program 
• Conduct ISTA and ASTM testing and documentation 
• Conduct training for customers, distributors, and internal sales teams
• Conduct product and equipment demonstrations 
• 10% travel as needed
• Produce sample packaging (i.e., cushions, cartons, etc.) 
 

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications: 
•    Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging, Engineering, or Industrial Design
•    Minimum 3 years as a Packaging Engineer, or equivalent past work experience
•    Experience with mechanical CAD systems (specific experience with Rhino and SolidWorks is not required but would be a plus)
•    Significant experience designing and testing packaging to ISTA and ASTM standards

Additional Qualifications: 
•     Good mechanical aptitude and strong ability to visualize in three dimensions 
•     Strong communication skills building engineer-to-engineer relationships with new and existing customers 
•     ISTA CPLP Technician (or Higher) Certification 
•    Experience with CNC programming 
•    Able to handle multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
•    Ability to clearly communicate with other engineers, designers, mold-makers, sales representatives and customers
•    Travel as necessary to support the sales organization… some travel may require flights and multi-night stays
