Position Purpose

We are looking to hire a Group Performance Leader (GPL) to manage the day-to-day department operations efficiently and effectively to achieve on time in full delivery performance, while ensure that safety, quality, service and cost performance targets are met. This role is reporting to the Plant Manager and will be based in Dandenong site.

Job Responsibilities

TECHNICAL

  • Employee engagement and Team adherence to Sealed Air Performance Management System (PMS).
  • Preventative and corrective actioning of issues affecting Safety, Quality, service, operational efficiency and costs.
  • Identify problems/improvement opportunities and implement robust preventative actions using structured problem solving and improvement methods.
  • Auditing and completing quality and safety observations to ensure processes are being undertaken to standard Operating conditions and standard Operating procedures are Current and being followed.
  • Ensure team compliance to Food Safety programme and HACCP and hygiene procedures are being adhered to.
  • To facilitate problem solving activities related to safety, quality and performance on the shop floor lead and facilitate Kaizen and Lean activities within manufacturing.

PEOPLE

  • To ensure all staff are trained and competent in their duties and that training is planned, managed and recorded. Ensure a system of competency-based training is embedded on site.
  • Drive performance improvement using the performance management system and implementation of SMART KPI’s, team and personal objectives.
  • Communication of company and site objectives and monthly / weekly / daily feedback to team.
  • To ensure an active performance management process is in place and SMART objectives are set for each individual in the team.
  • To mentor and lead change within the department.

BUSINESS

  • Lead and drive continuous improvement activities within manufacturing to deliver year-on-year improvements in cost per unit. 
  • Team adherence to safety, quality and operational procedures.
  • Lead the Daily Integration meetings in all areas ensuring effective feedback of daily issues and effective operational support provided by safety, quality, stores, engineering and maintenance teams.

 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • The GPL is accountable for safety, quality, and productivity KPIs in their area.
  • The GPL will provide support for all continuous improvement efforts
  • The GPL is accountable for the implementation and updating of standards
  • The GPL is responsible for performance management and disciplinary action of the members
  • The GPL and GML will jointly share accountability for improving and sustaining autonomous and preventative maintenance by the operators.
     

Knowledge / Experience / Person Profile

  • Strong Leadership Skills demonstrated in a similar role
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative approach.
  • Lean / six sigma experience 
  • Computer literacy in Word, Powerpoint, Excel – intermediate/advanced
  • Familiar with SAP / Business Intelligence or BW data mining activities
  • Results driven individual with process improvement experience including lean tools.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety and HSNO regulations.
  • Able to maintain a clear focus on eliminating waste, simplifying and error-proofing processes, sustaining gains, and creating flow.   
     

Education / Qualifications

⦁    Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Packaging or related subject.
⦁    Alternatively 10+ year’s management experience in a similar industry.
⦁    Lean Six Sigma Training to green belt level or higher preferred.
