Job Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining all the quality assurance programs and processes for Sealed Air’s Equipment Manufacturing site in Duncan, SC. This position works with the purchasing, operations and engineering teams to insure all manufactured or supplied products meet customer and company specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels. The Quality Engineer is responsible for the ongoing analytical assessment of all quality KPI’s (internal and external) and driving improvement projects from current and historical results.

The Quality Engineer drives quality assurance initiatives by organizing corrective action responses, both internal and external, facilitating and supporting continuous improvement and lean activities, developing and maintaining a strong process and product auditing process. The position uses quality experience to work on customer issue resolution, problem solving, and is the expert in all aspects of Quality from new product development through customer communication and issue resolution.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Maintain established data analysis processes: process maps, metrics, etc. and visibility to support each of the quality processes in PESC.
•    Identify root causes and trends in quality metrics, and where appropriate, lead programs to reach quality, operational, and financial goals using Lean Six Sigma and other techniques.
•    Develop and drive with the Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing Teams, improvement to share and achieve sourcing and operational goals.
•    Interact with other Equipment Quality Managers to share findings, support Corporate programs, and replicate best practices to accelerate successes.
•    Develop an understanding of customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes. 
•    Works with customers, vendors, and engineering to gather data and provide corrective actions.
•    Develop, review and implement specifications for products or processes.
•    Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor compliance.
•    Develop and execute quality training programs

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.   
•    5+ years of hands-on experience with Quality systems and processes in a manufacturing setting, including Supplier Quality Management, Corrective Action Management, Root Cause assessment, and FMEA development. Equipment manufacturing highly desired.
•    Possess exceptional problem-solving abilities to ensure technical solutions are sound and cost-effective.
•    Trained to LSS Green Belt/Black belt level. Certification preferred yet not required.
•    Ability to lead an effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to develop rapport quickly with all organizational levels and customers.  
•    Able to work independently, lead technician and provide direction as well as work cooperatively on a team.  
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio and Project (or similar tool).  
•    SAP experience highly desired.
•    Able to use Minitab or comparable statistical analysis software when needed.
•    Able to travel up to 20%.
