What does a Supply Chain Finance - Financial Controller do?

Sealed Air Australia is looking for a motivated and experienced Supply Chain Finance – Financial Controller to join our regional Finance team. Reporting to Supply Chain Finance Manager ANZ, you will serve as a trusted partner in the organization and provide financial leadership for the respective Site/Manufacturing Management team.

 

The primary purpose of this role is to partner with manufacturing teams in the pursuit of operational excellence and cost control. Responsibilities include defining and ensuring the delivery of financial objectives as well as realizing and judging risks and opportunities. This position provides insights into operating results and clarifies key performance indicators for the value creation roadmap.

Why we need you?

Costing experience and a thorough understanding of cost accounting methods and procedures in a manufacturing environment is essential to perform plant accounting and factory reporting.
Including but not limited to:

  • Maintain cost accounting records and information to determine and record costs by product, department, cost center, profit center, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy for labor, material, and variable overhead costs both for computing costs of new and existing products and for the revising of existing product prices.
  • Publish weekly plant production and variance reports.
  • Prepare accounting journals as required to present correctly monthly factory performance.
  • Analyze cost information and prepare the factory reporting pack reports highlighting any variations from expected costs monthly.
  • Present variance analysis on material, labor, and overhead usage.
  • Ensure appropriate calculations and provisions for obsolete/slow-moving stock and intercompany profit eliminations.
  • Experience in Excel (advanced) and SAP software system (Financial) is a must, use of PPM, WAVE HFM/Onestream, and Power BI would be a bonus.
  • Strong Verbal and written communication is a must.
  • Accounting Degree or CA/CPA Qualified (3 years’ experience including costing experience in Manufacturing a bonus)

 

Relevant experience in the manufacturing industry and process improvement skills are critical for preparing the annual direct labor movement calculations and summaries in accordance with the budget objectives and participating in the review and implementation process.

 

To use your strong reporting and presentation skills to provide accurate and timely advice and financial analysis including reviewing trends and variances from budget and prior year actual, perform quarterly SOX testing as required; manage and support the explanation and analysis of quality, timely and accurate routine, cyclic and ad-hoc financial management reports to support decision making.

 

To use your business acumen and proven communication skills both verbal and written and act as Financial Controller to provide financial advice and support to key business leaders to manage business operations and performance effectively and efficiently, and own the budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning process for your business unit ensuring strategic alignment to business objectives.

 

To use your proven problem-solving ability and influencing skills to Identify gaps between forecasts and actuals to targets, assist in the development and agreement on strategy required, and establish collaborative relationships to meet business needs as well as coaching and contributing to business strategy.
