The Role

 

Due to retirement, we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join our Industrial Maintenance team in Hamilton on a permanent fulltime basis.

 

The Maintenance Fitter provides ongoing maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery to prevent, diagnose, and repair faults.  They are entrusted with performing preventative, reactive and routine maintenance.  The core purpose of the role is to ensure that industrial machines and equipment are operating at optimum performance.  This includes routine checks, replacement of parts, lubrication, and improvements.  They attend emergency breakdowns to identify and repair faults to required specifications, limiting downtime and increasing productivity.

Key Responsibilities

 

The Maintenance Fitter will undertake a range of tasks including:

  • Interpretation of relevant drawings, and specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools in a safe manner.
  • Display proficiency in preventative, reactive and on-going maintenance
  • Find solutions to assist in the continuous improvement of equipment and machinery.
  • Work in collaboration with contractors and other trade professionals where required.
  • Follow all relevant workplace health & safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
  • Participate in an after-hours call-out roster after a familiarisation period.

Skills and Experience

 

The successful applicant will possess a range of fundamental core and technical skills including:

  • Completion of a Mechanical Trade Certificate is preferred.
  • On-site experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Welding experience desirable.
  • Proficient in problem solving with the ability to quickly find faults with machinery and equipment.
