Job Summary:

      Under the direction of the Plant Manager, this position will develop and drive Maintenance/Technical/Engineering to deliver and sustain profitable growth.  The fundamental task will be to support and influence change and provide the direction and guidance for the team to ensure that the technical goals are met. This position is also tasked with process innovation.  Innovation work will include improving safety and environmental performance, incremental production increases, and improved process automation.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise approximately 6-10 members of the maintenance staff.
  • Actively participate in plant safety efforts.  Lead the maintenance safety program to achieve plant safety and ensure zero accidents.
  • Identify, define, and track operating conditions including equipment planned downtime, actual downtime, yield and equipment efficiency.
  • Effectively lead lean manufacturing initiatives such as TPM, 5S and Kaizen teams.
  • Consult with Plant Manager to establish strategic innovation projects. 
  • Responsible for equipment capital improvements from justification to execution.  
  • Responsible for all building and facility maintenance, coordinating with outside vendors and compliance with agencies such as the Fire Department, EPA, and XL Gaps.
  • Participate in hiring, training, scheduling and performance management decisions.
  • Support opportunities in the testing and development of new materials and equipment with the Supply Chain Team.

Organization and External Relationships:

  • Will work closely with engineers, technicians, production, quality, EH&S, accounting, and maintenance employees to coordinate projects
  • Work with Corporate Project Engineering, Process Engineering, and R&D on new product development, process development, new equipment installations, facility upgrades, and quality improvement projects
  • Work with functional executives on strategic direction and improvement projects.
  • Will manage suppliers and vendors relating to Maintenance spare parts (MRO inventory).
  • Will work with Equipment vendors for support

 

Qualifications:

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering required
    • 3-5 years of process engineering or maintenance experience required
    • Strong electrical skills (AC DC circuitry)
    • Knowledge of PLC systems
    • Must be able to interpret engineering layouts and schematics
    • Proficiency in the use of MS Office

 

  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Proficiency in the use of Lean Six Sigma principles; green belt preferred
    • Planning and problem-solving ability
    • Able to operate with considerable latitude
    • Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting own priorities
    • Able to assimilate and understand new technologies (strong technical aptitude)
    • Polished presentation, business acumen, negotiation and facilitation skills
    • Good understanding of team based, self-managing principles
    • Results oriented
