Job Description

This position includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • To identify and implement opportunities to improve the safety of the manufacturing process
  • To improve manufacturing efficiencies (rate, yield, uptime, quality) inside plant
  • To develop methods to increase rates of products produced without impacting quality
  • To develop methods to increase yields
  • To start-up new equipment as it comes online
  • To write procedures for operation of equipment
  • To stay abreast of new equipment / process developments in the field
  • To lead plant efforts in transitioning new products from R&D
  • To communicate regularly with process engineers in other plants sharing combined knowledge
  • To troubleshoot manufacturing problems and identify solutions with data based decision making
  • To identify and implement new or improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability
  • To work with quality department in addressing process issues that impact performance of products in our customer’s plants
  • To define operating conditions and procedures which maximize quality, rate, yield and uptime of processes in plant
  • To conduct capability studies as necessary to define process stability and capability
  • To establish work plans necessary to accomplish goals, track and report progress in comparison to plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • Prior experience in extrusion preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics preferred
  • Prior use of designed experiments, SPC or equivalent preferred
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Be able to follow and give high regard to safety rules and housekeeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as; SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel, and other software as necessary
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, vendors, customers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Work equally well individually or in a team situation.
  • Be able to follow and give high regard to both vendor and customer service
  • Availability to travel as needed
