What does a General Accounting Specialist do?

This a key business partnering role. As a General Accountant, you’ll be tasked with managing journal entries, documents, invoice and payment processing. The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining all accounting records and producing timely reports, analysis, and statements in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. 

Why we need you?

  • As a General Accounting Specialist, you are responsible for a wide array of financial and administrative tasks.
  • Your duties include creating invoices for both internal and external customers globally, processing financial transactions daily to maintain accurate accounts under Greek GAAP, updating Accounts Payable and Receivable, and conducting reconciliations.
  • You ensure compliance with Month End closing requirements, manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Credit Control, and Litigation matters, and provide support during internal and external audits.
  • You establish contact with various external parties, administer basic HR and payroll issues, and collaborate effectively with third-party payroll providers.
  • Additionally, you monitor compliance with data regulations, register Fixed Assets, and handle ad hoc tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, along with professional experience in accounting, preferably within a structured corporate accounting team.
  • Previous experience in the Industrial sector is advantageous and a comprehensive understanding of accounting regulations and procedures, including proficiency in Greek Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in both English and Greek languages for effective verbal and written communication is essential,
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical prowess, and familiarity with ERS system is required, Knowledge of SAP is considered beneficial. Additional certifications such as CPA or CMA are advantageous, reflecting the candidate's commitment to professional development.
  • They should exhibit critical thinking, self-motivation, problem-solving abilities, and adeptness in gathering, planning, and organizing information to meet stringent deadlines, all while fostering excellent teamwork skills.
