Job Summary

 

The HR Manager is a business partner to site leadership and supports, implements, and executes tactical aspects of the HR function for several operational departments of the Iowa Park, Texas facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: HR and Organizational Goal Alignment, Employee and Leadership Relations, Learning & Organizational Capability (performance management, training delivery & design), Talent Acquisition (recruiting, new hire on-boarding, orientation), Total Rewards (compensation, benefits, immigration & relocation), and government & legislative compliance. 
 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

The HR Manager role partners with leadership and supports, implements, and executes all tactical aspects of the HR function, including but not limited to: 

  • Ensure HR initiatives are aligned and executed with organizational goals and objectives  
    • Contributes to the development of HR department goals, objectives, and systems
    • Collecting and analyzing employment data to drive decision making process 
    • Member of Leadership Team and actively participates in executive, management, and company staff meetings. 
    • Supervise HR Generalist including performance management 
    • Project coordination around policies, processes and change management, in partnership with legal, HR operations team members and COE’s 
  •  Employee and Leadership Relations 
    • Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them. Advises managers how to successfully, ethically, honestly, and legally communicate with employees.
    • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company including performance improvement process and employment terminations. 
    • Interacts regularly with all levels of plant personnel to ascertain human relations issues, work related problems, or other issues that might adversely affect employee morale and productivity. 
    • Manages employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use
  • Learning & Organizational Capability (performance management, training delivery & design)
    • Performance and talent management (employee development & succession planning, annual review processes, termination processes, etc.) in partnership with local practices and applicable business processes 
    • Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment
    • Diversity & Inclusion programs coordination
  • Talent Acquisition
    • Interviews management and executive position candidates
    • Provide recruiting process support to the Talent Acquisition team with strategic staffing/recruitment/talent management initiatives
    • Works closely with local management in developing position descriptions and compensation benchmarking
    • Oversee the talent acquisition process for hourly hires and contractors (recruiting, new hire on-boarding and orientation)
  • Total Rewards
    • FMLA, Short Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability process support 
    • Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, policies and processes
Qualifications

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 or more years previous HR Generalist experience (manufacturing experience preferred) with demonstrated success in independently managing key HR functions, including employee relations, benefits and recruitment of qualified candidates
  • 4 or more years with Supervisory experience
  • HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP) helpful

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of HR laws, principles and practices 
  • Ability to perform independently at a high level; self-directed, self-motivated.  Multitask and realign priorities as needed 
  • Proven ability to lead and influence local administrative staff and plant management without direct reporting relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership with strong project management and business acumen skills 
  • Ability to organize direct reports’ work tasks effectively, conceptualize, prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities
  • People leadership/ Coaching - ability to provide effective and constructive feedback while jointly establishing clear expectations 
  • Results focused - shows a documented track record of consistently using data based decision making to achieve desired results and accountable for actions
  • Proven influencing and negotiating skills
  • Proven ability to problem solve, work through issues with limited information, find efficiencies
  • Strong organizational, project management, problem solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Must be an effective delegator with all levels of management.
  • Computer skills - strong technical capabilities in Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. Peoplesoft or equivalent HRIS experience is preferable
