Maintenance Lead

Summary

Manage maintenance team, maintain installed fleet of equipment, install new equipment, and actively participates in the resolution of equipment breakdowns or issues with installed fleet.  Plan for services and spare part required for services to be carried out well in advance.

Responsibilities

  • Arranging and coordinating works of team service: utility equipment maintenance.
  • To introduce effective working methods, experience, tools, and devises.
  • Arranging and executing the supervision as well as control over the condition, proper maintenance, operation and duly repair of utility equipment, refrigeration, climatic and forklift equipment
  • Spare parts and materials purchase planning, controlling stock status and consuming volume, optimization of the order-and-purchase process.
  • Stock taking on spare parts and ensuring communication to reorder when stock parts are used. 
  • Ensure that the required spare parts are available before servicing of equipment is conducted.
  • Maintain the administration & documentation aspects of the maintenance department ensuring records are kept up to date and communicated to all concerned.
  • Initiating technical service reports identifying technical deviations and initiating necessary actions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet EHS and Quality requirements set by Sealed Air 
    • Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
    • Ensure all certification as ISO and or BRC is met and maintained.
    • Procedures and standards, etc.
    • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
    • Comply to electrical safety and requirements of SANS 10142-1 Ed 2 ‘living document’ as required by the OHS Act.
    • Cooperation with controlling and inspecting authorities.
  • Controlling and ensuring the observation of industrial, labour protection, industrial sanitation, and fire safety regulations; controlling the execution of maintenance equipment operation instructions.
  •  Providing contractors with any necessary technical documentation, control over the discharge of contractors' obligations under the agreement.
  • Preparing documentation for inspection authorities and control for hoisting machines exploitation.
  • Documentation preparation for other departments as and when requested.
  • To work out the drawings, sketches, instruction, specifications, and other documentation for utility equipment repairing and modernization.
  • Working out drafts of contracts to carry out contractors’ works, endorsement of such works as well as presenting for signature. Endorsement of schedules to carry out repair and adjustment works under the contracts.
  • Executing any measures of planned repairs: working out plans and schedules to arrange inspection, examination of the utility equipment’s preventive testing and major repairs, endorsement and presenting for approval of such measures as well as control over their execution.
  • Maintenance of all technical projects (equipment installation, start up, adjustment and operational support).
  • To operate / fault find and repair all electrical equipment and manufacturing lines, auxiliary equipment, power supply networks and lighting of the factory.
  • Provide a full technical service on a planned maintenance basis in respect of all equipment installations in working hours and after hours.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve breakdowns or improvements in maintenance.
  • Take part in electrical installation and commissioning during modernization and reconstruction of production lines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoots technical equipment problems and provide technical guidance where necessary.  
  • Complete Job cards and update info accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Request quotations; create PR and order spares and parts in time.
  • Any other responsibility to ensure maintenance department operates efficiently. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 years Trade tested Millwright N6 (Red Seal), National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with hands on experience
  • 5 years minimum experience

  • Pneumatics experience
  • PLC experience
  • FMCG experience advantageous
  • Work experience in instrumentation fitting / low-current systems installations
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Experience of refrigeration and climatic equipment maintenance
  • Experience of operation and maintenance of technological and utility equipment
  • Basic knowledge of workflow automation in manufacturing enterprises
